Hey everyone, new here, great boards, seems like this is the best place to come to for questions as i'm not too clued up on hardware and everyone seems to be pretty well informed around here! I'm on a limited budget, looking at buying a laptop, but can't decide between an Acer which has the 6770 or an HP which has the 540m. Both have 2.0Ghz i7 2630QM and 8GB DDR3. Which would be the better GPU? I've spent hours studying benchmarks, etc, and can't come to a conclusion. Anyones opinion on this would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance :)

If the Acer's 6770M has GDDR 5 VRAM, I'd say go with the 6770M as the 6770M's performance rivals the GT 555M and it far succeeds the GT 540M.

AMD Radeon HD 6770m with GDDR5 > Nvidia Geforce 540m.
Graphic memory dont mean that much at all, but the graphic memory type is more important.

Thanks for the quick replies :) So how would the Radeon perform with modern games? I'm not looking to run everything at max detail but would it run everything at a decent pace? I want to get into Medal of Honor, Black Ops and Witcher 2 looks like a great game. Would it run these?

Medal of Honor and Black Ops you can do Near-Max at 1080p. Witcher 2 is a no-no. Medium or Medium-Low at 1080p, but Witcher 2 does still look very good at Medium.

Awesome man, actually I haven't been playing many games for a long time, the laptop I currently own is an old Sony vaio and the most recent game i've played is probably Medal of Honor Allied Assault. Needless to say i'm pretty out of touch with how things are these days haha.. so running Witcher 2 at medium would be perfectly fine to me :)
