I am planning to purchase an ultrabook that is powerful, and they come in these dedicated graphic cards. I have no idea how they will perform on Autodesk Maya 2013, can someone tell me how they will perform?
I generally animate models and use them in animating scenes, then leave them to render overnight.
Please try not to say, "how the hell do you expect to do this high production stuff on a 13" or 14" screen" or "you have better options (unless the option is available on an ultrabook)", I've heard it already.
Thanks if you can offer any help!

640M is faster than the 7670M.
-
I think the HD 7670m is a rebranded HD 6750, so i would recommend going for the newer GT 640m.
-
Clearly the 640M.

No it's not. 6650M has DDR3, 7670M has DDR5.

no it doesn't. at least in SONY's SVZ13's case, it's DDR3.

Why make it support both? You've essentially got two cards there. Why market it as the same?
I have the same peeve with NVIDIA. Half the 635, 640 & 650M's having GDDR5 and half having DDR3. -
The 7670M is just a rebranded 6750M and comes in GDDR3 and GDDR5 flavors. Obviously, the GDDR5 is faster.
The Nvidia GT 640M is actually based on the new Kepler architecture. The GDDR5 version is a very decent performer and can run Battlefield 3 on Ultra settings at 1366x768 with 30 FPS. If you're gonna be doing Maya work, I would stick with Nvidia anyway because they have better support for compute technologies such as CUDA, PhysX, etc. -

640m is more powerful and more efficient. It has some maya performance on the link provided. -
There isn't an option in your poll for "Don't use gaming cards for pro work," but imagine that's what I voted for.
Look for a graphics card that is officially supported. The same goes for the rest of the system. -
I think for the most part, having a consumer graphics card is fine; they can probably do 90% of what the pro graphics cards can do at a fraction of the cost and run games with better stability as well. -
6750m is GDDR5, 6650m is DDR3, 7670m is rebranded 6750m and 7670m XT is rebranded 6770m. Anyone? Are we clear!?

so which one's are 28nm? or the best?

you have better options -
the 7670m is based on 6770m which is slight under the gt640m performance.
but you can oc a lot the gt640m,in 7670m you cant. -
7670 = 6650
7690 = 6750
7690 xt = 6770
no more question about this.
