I have a radeon 6900 series and when I play a game it gets real loud (The fans). Is that supposed to happen?

Probably. I would suggest you monitor your temps. If they stay under 80, you are fine. It would also help if you mentioned which GPU you had, and not just the series.

I have a Radeon HD 6950. Is there an app that I can use to monitor while in game?

Are you talking about the desktop card? All ATI stock blower fans are loud. Yes ATI's CCC can help you manually control the stock fans.

Catalyst Control Center. Right-clicking anywhere on your desktop will allow you to access this interface. Other than manually controlling fan speed, you can also get aftermarket heatsinks that are much quieter.

Um I think you want to monitor temps first. If you are at a risk of overheating if the fans do not come on or do not spin as fast because you forced them to a certain max speed, then you risk damaging your GPU.

There are several softwares available. Just google it. If your temps are in the 60s or lower (which I doubt they will be with the desktop 6950, but it's possible), then you can reduce your max fan speed. If they are in the higher 80s while your fans are going all out, then you do not want to reduce their speed.

Will monitor the temps. Do you recommend any? Also how about FPS. Is there any software that can do that?
