I was wondering if I get the Radeon Omega Drivers 3.8.231 (Catalyst 6.3) and something goes wrong, if I system restore to a certain date, will it get rid of the catalyst and restore to original driver that came with laptop? or will it keep the catalyst? thank you

when you restore to a certain date...it will roll everthing back to that date..it will put the software back to the way it was...just make sure that the omegas werent installed on that date and you should be fine...i do not like doing restores (i turn them off) since if i dont like them, i just uninstall the drivers and install a different set...

be sure that you uninstall your old drivers FIRST, reboot, install new drivers, reboot, then do what you gotta do :)

what card are you installing the drivers on? drivers generally "work", unless by "work" you mean..you see slower performance..etc...

please explain what you mean by "work"

also, in that case, just go to add/remove programs, and uninstall them.

I believe selecting "software uninstall utility" removes everything from your system. That's what I selected when removing old drivers and software from my laptop w/x700.

Some people recommend using drivercleaner pro as well but I think it's just as a safety precaution and not all that important.

do the uninstall utility first..reboot, then see what is left..if anything is left, then do those..rinse repeat.

driver cleaner pro..is good, but sometimes does more bad then good..i have had some issues with it not removing everything..and when i installed drivers, i had to reinstall xp..(drastic, probably could have just booted into safe mode again, but there is nothing like a fresh install of XP)

    PB mate one question:

I have 6.1 Omega Catalyst on my laptop, do I have to de-install these before installing 6.3? And how must I de-install them? Via Configuration -> Software or via Programs, Omega drivers?

Or can I just install 6.3 over 6.1?

    Thanks !

Charlie da Silva from Peru :)

always uninstall the old version, BEFORE you install the new version. if you dont, it will cause many unneeded problems.

Thanks for all the help guys, I installed the drivers and everything works fine, I get about 10-15 FPS more on some games. I just have one question: When I ran ATI tool trays, I didnt touch anything but i noticed that my clock speeds changed every once in a while. Is this normal? I don't want to overclock, that's why i havent tweaked with anything. How do i keep my clocks the same at all times?

sounds like it is powerplay acting up..are you plugged in? i have too many issues with tray tools, so i am unable to use it.

is it a drastic change in speed, or like a few mhz?

Yea im plugged in, however its only like a few mhz. Powerplay is on optimal performance, so i dont think thats what's causing it. Right now the clocks are at 398:256 and it will change to 398:263, but then i change it back and it will stay like that for a while. What's a safe clock speed if i ever want to overclock?

it is different for every computer. you have to test out what your computer likes, and you MUST do it SLOWLY..too much too fast, and you will need to backtrack way too much. if your games play fine, then why overclock?
