Okay, so I'm looking at the Asus W3J, which comes with an ATI Radeon X1600 with 256 MB.
Is that a good enough card for seamless gaming for games like Age of Empies III and great video viewing?

Yes, it's a good card for Age of Empires III. The W3J will bottleneck with a game like FEAR but that's with dynamic lighting on and medium to high graphics on. You should have no problem.
BTW, good choice -

Ironically, while the desktop X1600 is an object of ridicule and cements ATI's continuing inability to produce a quality mid or low range desktop card, the mobile one is a monster, though I suspect that's largely because competition is different in the notebook sector.
At any rate, the X1600 in that W3J is a beast and will be more than adequate for your needs. -
It's a very good card. I'm pretty sure you'll be able to play any game that's out thre right now at very good settings. Maybe only oblivion will give some trouble.

i'm playing bf2 on max setting. it's awesome card. i don't play fear or doom 3 but i'm sure it can run it on mid to high setting. i love bf2.

There is no need to worry about the x1600 being a sufficient gaming GPU. It's as good as you can get (along with the go 7600) unless you are willing to go to 17"+ systems.

Mobility X1600 = desktop GF7600GS

I'm sure cause I meant stock settings. Desktop cards will always better OC, that's obvious.

All this could have been answered by reading the stickies (Graphics card chart) at the top of the forum. They are there for a reason.
