Dell inspirion comes with Radeon hd 4330 or Intel gma 4500.
The better model with hd 4330 comes with 320 Gb hard drive and model
with Gma 4500 250 Gb Hard drive.
I was reading on forum's that not integrated graphic(hd 4330 in this case) card can cause heating damage over years.
I will not play games with my laptop and I need it for 3-4 years so I'm not sure
which model to take (with hd 4330 or gma 4500) ?
I f you are not using high graphic applications will it hd 4330 stay cool and not taking much power tahn gma 4500 ?
(Sorry for my english)
Thanks

If you're not running any games or graphic intensive applications, then the GMA4500 will work better for you. It drains less juice so you'll have longer battery life.
-
But this with hd 4330 have 320 Gb hard disk and the one with gma 4500 have 250 Gb. I like more space but power consuming graphic cards mostly causes mainbord crashes over years. This bothers me.
I will not use much of battery.
Can you set in Catalyst center not to use whole power by switch to performance and not to quality ? -
You want the HD 4300. Integrated graphics suck. What happens if you want to watch a DVD or get a Blu-Ray drive down the line? Or maybe even some LIGHT gaming? With 3 to 4 years I would not get integrated if my life depended on it.
Graphic cards do not cause "mainboard" crashes. The HD 4300 has ATI's Powerplay technology so the card only uses the power it needs while conserving battery power when it's not needed.
You will have a fare better notebook experience with the HD 4300, that I assure you. -
Well the 4330 also sucks... what i suggest you get would be a dell studio 15 with the ATI 4570.... way more decent card and should game for way more longer than 4330...
-
Why can't you get the one with the Intel graphics and upgrade the hard drive on your own? It is a piece of cake to change, far cheaper than getting the HD4330 laptop, and you can have a lot more storage for the cheaper price.
The GM45 chipset is very powerful for video and offers a high level of hardware acceleration. Not everyone plays games.
I happen to have Inspiron 1545's with both, and you're right, the 4330 doesn't use much more power than the integrated graphics does. And the problems of graphics failing was specific to several Nvidia cards and not a general problem.
I can assure that that is not true unless you do some light gaming, like company of heroes or counterstrike. -
I think I''ll get hd 4330 then for light gaming.
Are you satisfied with dell inspirion 15 ?
I'm getting one next week. -

Can do a DIY ViDock (US$55 PE4L + desktop HD4670 + 12V PSU) for more decent gaming to an external LCD/TV, and get the cheaper X4500 model with the better battery life. -
The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330 got better driver support for games, and its Avivo HD is way better to decode HD material than the Intel GMA X4500mhd.
My little brothers got that Intel solution and MPC-HC does not work as good as i hoped for.
Even my Asrock Ion 330 with a Nvidia Geforce 9400m decodes better with MPC-HC.
But i moved to Linux on that box since VDPAU + XBMC = awesome.

If it wasn't glossy I would like it a lot more. It gets fine scratches pretty easily and it is a fingerprint magnet that really gets on my nerves. Compared to a Studio 1555 it feels pretty cheap.
-
I realized now that this matte black dell has also glossy interior so scratches will be there eventually.
But, can't figure it out if this is the same model.
Do you have black matte dell? -
There wont be scratches if you take good care of the laptop
But you're right. Some time, some place, somewhere when you least expect it. There will eventually be a scratch.
-
Yeah, the top of the lid and the bottom of the base aren't glossy. I forgot to mention though that the top of the lid attracts fingerprints too and the poor quality paint compared to other dells scratches very easily. My girlfriend has the purple top on her 1545 and it still looks great. I would paint my laptop if the touchpad wasn't built into palmrest. The finish on this doesn't compare to any painted laptop I have seen.

If I choose pacific blue Dell inspirion will there be problem with scratches?
I mean what is best color pacific blue or matte black to get rid of scratches?
Or I should I take Toshiba L300?
I'm really confused now.
I nspirion is very good laptop but I will carry it around a lot.
Help -
Neither one is bad with scratches. It's just that my matte black one I carry around everywhere gets the lid marked up easily. It isn't just scratches, but hitting it or rubbing it against something will mark the soft matte black paint. On my girlfriend's which is painted with one of the optional gloss colors, the paint seems more durable. Hitting or rubbing it against something doesn't have the same effect on the paint. I also think that maybe the clear coated glossy colors are harder and more resistant to scratches like the soft matte paint is, bit I don't know for sure. Marks or scratches might be more visible on the matte black one. One of these days I intend to paint mine.

The 4570 is just a higher clocked version of the 4330; they are both still low end GPUs with a 64bit bus.
The 4330 actually packs more of a punch than many people expect, and certainly more than I expected (I only bought this one as I didn't have masses of cash and my old notebook had died on me quite abruptly). I didn't even expect to keep this notebook for very long and had no intention of gaming heavily on it, however I do so now after pushing it to see what it could achieve.
Have a look here for my Crysis benchmarks. Sure, it's not the best GPU in the world, not by a long shot, but as far as budget graphics go, it's good enough. I have no problem playing any recent game, just not at high settings for most. Whilst the games I play are not overly demanding, they are much more than integrated graphics can manage, such as Hawx, Prototype, CoD4, and it plays them flawlessly.
I just don't understand why people come out with comments such as "the 4330 sucks" when in fact they should say "the 4330 is a low end card, so don't expect to play the latest and greatest games at high settings, but it offers pretty good value for money if you are on a tight budget".
I wouldn't worry too much about heat; I've really not had a problem with mine at all so far. Sure the fan does turn on quite a lot when gaming, but that's true of many many many notebooks. -
Hi Fragilexx, I am going to receive my new notebook with the following specs:
Intel® Core2 Duo-processor T9600 (2,80 GHz, 1.066 MHz, 6 MB)
8.192 MB 800 MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2 x 4.096]
512MB ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330
Windows® 7 Professional 64 BIT
My question to you is, because you are one of the few I saw writing positively on the HD4330, are games like operation flashpoint 2 playable on this laptop? What do you think would be the maximum settings I could play it on? -
I have no idea how well it will run, but it should run on the machine. I just ran the canyourunit test, and whilst it's not always accurate, it gives an indication - screenshot posted below.
Why on earth did you increase the graphics memory to 512MB? And bigger question, why on Earth did you go for 8GB of RAM?
The 4330 is not a powerful enough card to really utilise 512MB VRAM; and 8GB of RAM is unneccesary for the vast majority of people out there.
To me your configuration looks overly beefed up and probably expensive as a result, when in all honesty I think you may have been better opting for a better machine with slightly lower specs.
-
Thank you for your answer. I did not increase the graphics memory, it comes with 512MB. I bought the system for a total of 1300,- EURO, not that expensive I think. Furthermore I do alot of things at the same time and do not have the patience with slow computers, dont want to break in anger it while its new. About the card, so you think that eventhough it comes with 512 MB it actually is too much for it?
-
Stay away from Intel, they should really just stick to CPUs. Graphics memory doesnt directly correlate to performance, and I doubt the 4330 could use even 256mb, hell, 128mb. It is is better than the Intel card, but should just run most recent titles on lower settings and resolutions.
Depending on what your doing that 8GB is complete overkill, by the way. -
You probably right, I should have looked here around before buying the system, well a lesson for the next time I guess, thanx...
