Hi,I have a amd radeon hd 7450m with 1 gb ddr3 memory and 700 core clock and 900 memory clock.but when i play games(any game even new ones!!!) it uses about 250 to 350 mb of memory.i found out by using msi afterburner(not overclocking). Thus i get a very poor gameplay.i have to play all games by low settings.but it has 1gb.I have 12.6 beta driver. Please help!!!

The graphics card allocates automatically the amount of memory that is necessary to load textures and such, 250 mb in modern games is perfectly fine and I don't know of titles that use much more. Your card performs poorly because it's pretty weak in terms of speed , not because of it uses 250 mb of memory during gameplay.

Very few games can utilize 1gb of video memory. Your card has a lot more video memory than it can handle.

    Yeah basically.

The GPU is using as much as it can, but being a lowend chip that is not much.

Perfect example of why quantity of graphics memory is pretty much a marketing gimmick.

@fardin97 do you get angry if Windows superfetch/cache only uses 2GB of your HDD of the available 256GB or believe having 500GB instead of 256GB will make Windows faster?

    AMD Radeon HD 7450M - Notebookcheck.net Tech

7450m is a low end card, even less powerful then my 9600m gt my a bit. At the end of the day your 7450m could have 4gb memory but perform less powerful then a 512mb graphics card like mine. Reality is 512mb memory is the max it should have been put on it. Yours is a 64bit card which is the most basic which means low end cards have high clocks but have low power consumption as it has less bandwidth.

You live in Dhaka :D in Bangladesh. Anyway what type of technology can you buy there now.

Maybe a practical example is easier to understand. Think of it as a car with lots of trunk space, but with a tiny engine. You can't actually fill the whole trunk, because the engine is not powerful enough to pull all that weight.

You will not notice any need for memory above that since that GPU isn`t capable of pushing enough pixels and polygons to the memory anyways

Go to the settings in every game and set texture quality to high and that'll fix your low video memory usage. :p
