Rainbow Six 3: Raven shield - help!

I installed bootcamp on my macbook pro, and then i installed raven shield.

whenever i launch the program- it play the "raven" video advert intro and then freezes. the screen blinks.

i am running on windows xp pro. is this a problem related to a video card driver? (brand new 8600m gt) or is it because of the dual core processor?

can someone help me fix this?

edit: i patched the game to 1.60. still nothing.

 

Did you try running the game in XP's Compatibility Mode?

I am thinking that it has something to do with the video card trying to render things other than video. Do any other games work?

 

yeah all the source games i have tried worked- hl2, css, etc.

ive also ran FEAR combat with great success. and 3dmark06 runs no problems.

 

I suggest uninstalling RB6 and reinstalling it. That is all I really can think of right now.

 

hmm ok even more odd. if timed right, i can get by the intro videos into the menu and start up a game. once i am in the game though- i can barely move, and my teammates warp to where ever i tell them to go.

is this dual core related or geforce 8 series gpu related... i wonder...

 

I have the same issue. I am running Raven shield 1.6 and Athena sword under XP Pro on a 2.4 Ghz MacBook Pro with the 8600M GT. When I load up the game, my keyboard doesn't seem to work in addition to it not making it past the Tornado logo. It works on my other machine with a 2.2 Ghz Core 2 Duo and an 8500 GT.

Please let me know if you are able to resolve the issue. The only reason I even installed XP was so that I could play this game with my dad online because the Mac and PC versions aren't compatible.

I think it's a GPU issue as well.

 

I know when I had Raven Shield installed the game would run at 1/2 the speed of normal. As in the gameplay was that slow not the framerates. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the dual core CPU.

well i think the gpu issue was just the newness of the 8 series mobile gpu at the time. newer drivers seem to work fine.

however, the game still has weird performance issues (half speed type thing like mainevent gets) that probably are related to dual core.

and ubisoft isn't likely to release a fix, seeing as the game is no longer supported at all.

your only real choice is rainbow six vegas 2... woo.

I Bought Raven Shield today for less then $5 and i wont get past the company logo screens
