I just got Rainbow Six Vegas for PC.
I'm trying to run it on my Inspiron 1520 - specs in sig.
I'm getting VERY low framerate ... like 10. I can play Call of Duty 4 and not drop below 40 but on a game that's 1.5 years old I'm running crappy.
Can anyone help me with this? Could it be the game not recognizing the dual cure cpu?

Considering that COD4 works well, I would make sure that the game is fully patched.

The game is a horrible port. It will run crappy and there's nothing you can do but turn down the graphics level to ugly.
-
That particular game runs really bad on all but the most powerful gaming desktops. I would try settings Shadows to either low or medium as that seems to gain the most performance. R6V was simply ported/coded very poorly.

The performance issues that you are having, as long as it's in both SP and MP, can be from high requirements, numerous bugs (and not fixed), or craptastic porting from the X360. However, there may be an issue with newer nvidia drivers than have also caused a lot of problems for me. I would suggest you rollback drivers, like before the entire 169 line. The most recent driver that I can use (on 8800gts) without terrible performance is 163.75. Give it a try.

I think I'm running 163 drivers. CPU usage is at 100% all the time.
Now here's a question - how do I get 1280x800? 1024x768 doesn't look that great for widescreen. -
masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
i don't even think the game supports widescreen.
its really, really bad. find a better game. play CoD4 twice instead of RSV -
Ask and ye shall receive: I'm running at 1680x1050 and it is certainly a help. Just follow the instructions, it's very easy to setup.

Hmm still not sure why you're having major performance issues though. -
Yea, the game can be set up for widescreen. ALso the game just runs BAD.
When I used to play the game it was when I had an ATI X1950XT and it ran HORRIBLE on even 1024x768. Once I patched it, the game became playable, but still very choppy. Also, it seemed that no matter whether the graphics settings were set to max, or minimum, the framerate never changed more than 5FPS. I say just move on, the game was flawed. -
Yup even 3-way SLi 8800 GTX desktop users have problems lol.

I think the performance issue is related to the CPU more than anything. When I run the game, the CPU usage is 100% ... maybe that's just speed step and if I needed more, it would give me more?
By turning everything down (shadows, blur, Vsync) I have been able to get it to run decently and I didn't notice any difference haha.
Anyone know if the second one is going to be a better performer?
Rainbow Six Vegas ... running crappy?
