My m5550 has a dual core 1.6ghz processor with 1gb of ram and an nvidia 6600 go which has 256mb of ram. I am interested in playing rainbow six vegas 2 and call of duty 4 on my laptop. I am also in the market for a gaming console.
If I get a 360 or PS3, should I get rainbow six and COD4 for my laptop or for my gaming system? Which will it run better on? I can play GTA: SA on highest settings with no problem.
I care more about the smoothness and graphics. I don't think hours of gaming on my laptop would be good for my laptop either since it has managed to break down twice already. But besides that, with my specs, would you rather play those games on the laptop or a xbox 360 or PS3?
How does the xbox 360 compare with getting a new gaming desktop for 1200 dollars? If I get the XPS 630from Dell, would those two games mentioned look better on the Dell XPS 630 or the xbox 360? The price of the dell is 4 times as much and I am not sure if the price difference is worth it considering most of the games I want to play are available on xbox 360.
Thanks.

360 Will beat the 6600. It will be much more smooth and look better. Instead of getting a desktop from dell, build your own. A nice quad core can be had for 1200, and will look better than a 360.

PS3 all the way, blu ray is much more future proof then DVD's

You take your Blu-Ray and YOU LEAVE!!!!!!

Back on subject, If you have a nice gaming PC, i would say get the PC version, it looks WONDERFUL on my computer, and it still looks good on my 360, but with the max res being 1080i, i can go a lot higher than that with my PC. Also, if you get it for a console, get the 360 version, 360 supports 6XAnti-Aliasing, while the PS3 supports 2X, and their are other things i could go into, but im not going to bother doing all that right now... im too tired. -
Ha, amazing how such an innocent question can turn into a Xbox/PS3 debate.
-
lol amen to that
-
Its only a debate if he answers.
And As soon as I can buy a Blu-Ray drive for my pc, I am. those 25gig disks are appealing.

-
Possibilities....

Or buy an alienware, swap the drives, send it back with a note that says "WTF I asked for BLU-RAY and i got DVD!?!? I want a full refund!" Haha, more possibilities.

masterchef341 The guy from The Notebook
the xbox 360 won't have blu ray games though, because only a fraction of the consoles will support it. one dl dvd is barely enough for a pc games anymore, sad truth.
leaning towards ps3. both consoles should run the game fine, the laptop won't run it so well... -
The only reason to get a gaming system is exclusives / media conectivity... otherwise play every thing on PC which is where its best played if your a true hardcore gamer.
ill play GTA4 for a year on my 360... but ill play it for 2-3 years on my PC... such is the nature of gaming.
If you have a brother/sister/friend u live with and game with alot.. get a 360 for Co-op gaming
If you live alone and have a very nice media set up get a PS3
If you have lots of predrinks at your house get a wii
If you love games get a good laptop/desktop -
PC gaming does not need physical media any more... the internet is fast now u know.. lol
All games will require installs eventually or will stream content over the internet. blu-ray is obsoletely already if u have a half decent internet connection. -
Thanks for all your replies. So an xbox 360 or PS3 will look way better than my alienware. Now the questions is which system. I have a HDTV and a Wii already although I get no benefit since the Wii only puts out 480p. I really want a blue ray player.
Will the microsoft blue ray be a drive that comes with a system or will they sell a separate attachment for the system like what they did with the HD DVD player? Thanks again everyone. -
PS3=value for gaming and AV entertainment.
-
I'd go with the PS3. GT5, MGS4, & FF13 are too much to pass up. Although if you like Halo, Gears of War, or Mass Effect I would go with the 360. It really depends on what games you like, since its probable Microsoft will release a bluray attachment for the 360.
-
They won't just look better, they'll look a world apart. A mobile 6600 is ancient and would be crippled running Vegas at low settings, to be honest.
-
So with that being said, you choose which console would be better for a game using the Unreal engine.... (thats what RB6V2 runs on) -
-
Did you just say that the PS3 is incapable at gaming? Really? Fanboyism goes that far?

if you're on budget then go for XBOX 360. that's if you don't mind using a controller for FPS.
-
Trust me, XBOX360 is much better then PS3. Not to start ****, but there are so many more games from 360 opposed to the PS3. All that system has going for it is Metal gear Solid. PS3 is trash, along with your alienware, you won't meet min requirements. Disc size isn't a problem, Just because blu-ray is bigger doesn't mean ****. It needs to re-write the games in other parts of the disc because it is so ****ing slow. Not to mention the LIVE service for xbox360 rapes the **** out of PS3's. That's why Microsoft can charge for it. If you like playing by yourself and not talking to anyone and playing pretty ****ty games get a ps3. I sold mine 2 days after I got it. Some machine eh?
Rainbox Six: Vegas 2 & COD4 on Alienware or Xbox360/PS3?
