Generally Yahoo! widgets is off (by ending processes) it's just in start-up and I have been too lazy to take it off/uninstall.![]()

Here is what I would get remove from the startup (mostly bloatware):

BLUE = (optional) you can remove these if you want
Note: HiJackthis makes a backup of the shortcuts that you remove, so you can always bring it back when you want.
(After cleaning out your startup) Also, try to disable your Anti-Virus and try to play some games. -
also I found this be another option for you:

Ok, but the thing for HP: The fix was for a laptop with 2 gigs of memory. I had the problem when I had 1 gig as well, but I guess I'll do it anyway.
And explorermain.exe was custom by me, I edited explorer so my name shows instead of start -
the BIOS update also gives Enhancements too:
Modifies thermal control method to improve system stability. -
Ok, thanks, installing now
-
I have the same problem as above too.
im using
Laptopz
Dell
Intel Core2duo 1.7gz
1gb ram
Ati x1400mobilty
15''wide
Windows XP Pro.32bit sp2
been using pc's for 10 years now.
i've done everything as above.
im having the same issue. WoW lags spikes for me. from 60 it goes to 10-17 fps then it shoots up 60 again.. but i tried this and it helped alot
Go to WoW sound
and disable ALL sound.
my wow ran smoothly without this spike-lag fps.
but hell, you dont expect me to play this game without sound right? heh
is it Winxp 32bit os issue? should i be using 64bit?
from reviews. 64bit is lagger then winxp32bit.
tell me if your WoW runs smoothly with all sound disable in WoW.
i really need to fix this
ps: i tried WoW video setting all lowered. to the worst gfx u could have. and 800x600.
still same lag-spike. -
If that's the case, try reinstalling the drivers for your sound device. If it continues to occur, you probably have a bad audio card. In which case, you either would have to have it repaired, or buy a PCIMIA sound card (assuming you have a PCIMIA slot). Of course, this would require you to use headphones or external speakers all the time. There's also the option of USB headphones, I think those have built in sound processing, but I don't know enough about how they work to tell you anything more.
Edit: Personally, I use a PCIMIA Creative Audigy 2 in my laptop(of course, its a fairly old machine, and some of the modern integrated sound solutions are actually quite decent). I find that it results in a decent FPS boost in games that use hardware accelerated sound, not to mention it sounds much better. -
did a clean format and installing the soundcard driver.
same thing happenswasting so much time figuring out whats wrong
yeah PCIMIA slot soundcard
you don't expect me to fork out 90$ to fix this problem when WoW works flawless in every of my pc.
even my old Centrino 1.6/1gbram/Build in intel gfx
runs faster then this new 1+month laptop.
CRYYYY -
Woah there, I don't expect you to do anything. You asked for advice, I offered it. I don't stand to gain anything by you buying a sound card. You wouldn't be buying it from me. I was merely stating a few of the options you had.
You should try all possible avenues to fix it through software, but after a driver reinstall and a format, it really doesn't sound like a software problem to me. The only other software solution I can think of would be a BIOS update. That always runs the risks of opening a whole new can of worms though, and I don't recommend it lightly. Having used PCs for 10 years yourself, I'm sure you can understand why.
If it is a hardware issue (and it sounds like it is), only repairing, or replacing the hardware will fix the problem. I am sorry if that's not an acceptable answer for you, but I fear it is the truth.
All this being said, I freely admit I am not a professional technician. Take my advice with however many grains of salt you like.
Edit: Looks like a BIOS update may be called for after all. Seems to have worked for Logan Harbour.
Edit 2: That's assuming Dell has a similar update for your machine, don't use the one posted earlier, its for HP -
I updated my BIOS as told in an earlier post and now everything runs smoothe, with full sound
-
Glad your system is good to go.
I was getting worried there for a moment. -
Yeah thanks a bunch of looking around, I guess I was just too lazy, too impatient, or too stupid to look around my self on the HP website.
It's great now I can play games in peace besides smashing my keyboard when I get killed and angry. My keyboard thanks you too -
yes, youre trying to help.
uh, im not sounding angry on that post or anything heh.
just annoyed with the bug situation
ill check out my DELL bios update
see if it works for me
Logan Harbour cheers for you! -
Thanks mate, good luck with your update, hope it works
