Let out all your rants here!!!
to start the thread, why do high-end/mid-range cards need to have fancy hardware decoding features?![]()
I mean most comps, laptops desktops alike with decent graphics cards will have a modern processor as well. and the processor alone is more than capable of playing a 1080p video. I don't think using a graphics card to do this would have any significant benefit.
IMO only IGPs and very-low-end dedicated cards need to have hardware decoding capabilities, cos they are often found on underpowered rigs. graphics card companies are just using these features for marketing.

i may sound stupid for this. but ati need's to get more ati video for laptops. Nvidia needs to man up and grow some balls and say "Hey, We messed up, we will fix what we did wrong" but they dont have the balls to say that. i know ati is not the best in the laptop gpu's but ati is not selling a bad gpu to laptops companies. so dell and other companies have had to spend money because of nvidia bad doing. I like my 2600HD on my laptop it may not play the games to max but dang it. it works for what i need. yes i may go on about radom stuff but i am just ranting about stuff

I hate all the whole Nvida marketing system. Basically instead of releasing true next generation cards every generation, they'll be half generation cards. The entire 9 series is the 8 series revamped without significant technological advances.
Instead of revampiing up existing generation cards to battle ATi's current gen cards that outperforms Nvidia's own current gen. Nvidia should offer true next gen technology and make the series name mean something. I hate it when corporations get lazy and use patch up marketing as the competitive marketing strategy. -
'ooh, a geforce 9200! must be better than that 8600 since it's new!' -
