Random Stuttering and extremely low fps means it's broke?

Ok i have an Asus G50vt-x2 i hate it to say the least but it seems i'm stuck with it. Anyway it's got the following specs.

    GPU:GeForce 9800M GS
    CPU:Intel Core Duo @~2.13Ghz

and well that's it for important stuff. Now onto the games where i've seen extremely low fps.

Oblivion randomly jumps from 1-2 to 90 then back down 10. That's without vsync on. With Vsync it never gets above 20. I am playing on max settings b/c well it's an old game and i should be able to run it on max.

Flyff: It'll randomly go from 90 to 10 fps and then freeze and come back. Also when it starts it say "Due to insuffecient texture memory the texture quality will be lowered." Then it'll say "Due to insufficient memory the shadow effect will not be applied".

    I don't get why that's happening there.

Then comes perfect world. FPS on max settings will linger ~15 on max settings. On the lowest settings i get ~40fps.

Also it's feeling like it's on fire nonstop the entire day even though i look at the temps and it say 76*C is the max. I have no clue why that's happening.

I'm also using RM clock with undervolting and performance on demand to try to keep it cool. So what does the community think? Is it broken?

Also it's not overclocked and is running at stock speeds.

Yeah that doesn't sound right lol... your 9800 gs should be able to handle more reasonable games like Oblivion with relatively no problems at the higher settings... and in flyff! that just seems ridonkulous!

yeah i look at it when it lets me in and it moves textures all the way to low and turns off all shadows. Considering what they have for the min reqs. Also i did the crysis benchmark on high just so i could feel sad and it gave me ~21fps avg.

Uhm.. i'm on windows 7. I'm using the latest laptop video 2 go drivers. I've also tried the drivers from the nvidia site. Neither thing fixes it. Also idle temps are now up to ~70*C from the olden days of ~50*C for the gpu. Also the fans don't seem to kick on at all anymore. :/

Which version of Windows 7 the 32bit or 64 bit?... I know for a fact there have been quite a few problems with the RC 7 32 bit client... I had to switch up to a 64 bit version and now I couldn't be happier

i'm 64bit through and through. I never use an 32bit os or well haven't since i've gotten this laptop it's been pure 64bit ever since i got it. Also these issues aren't just with windows 7, they also happened on vista, and xp. Not really much gaming done on my linux partition so i have no clue if it'll do it there too.

yes i am o_O i have nothing to the left of it(where the fans are located), and it's also sitting on a flat clean surface. Last time i did it just went with the nvidia driver. I've also been monitoring my temps with hw monitor for some time. It's just i have no idea why it's just not working right oh well. Time for G50vt #3

try defraging your system. if your system is fragmented this will cause slow downs.

Try opening up your laptop, clean out all the fans and vents, and make sure the fans are plugged in. Maybe it became loose?

i know what defragmenting is :/ i defrag once a week or after a major install. So that's not it.

Also new thermal paste? It's under warranty :/ so that's kinda outta the question.

Applying new thermal paste doesn't void your warranty lol... in fact it is recommended in addition to cleaning out your system... just put some ICD 7 in there and you'll be set for a LONG time lol

Or Arctic Silver 5. ICD7 is alot more expensive and supposedly thicker making it harder to apply.

Actually it is easier to apply as there is less chance of overspill, it conforms to the CPU... not much more expensive at all, in fact he can probably get a free tube from IC Diamond on our forums... Better cooling, no curing times... 200+ hours pshhh... I recommend ICD 7 or OCZ freeze

but to get to it... i have to first off have to open everything. Then i have to remove that little bar thingy that goes from teh gpu to the fan area. And that's about it. And idk how Asus does their warranty as applying thermal paste would void it or not as i have to physically mess with things :/
