I picked up Warhammer 40k Gold edition that comes with the winter assault and I picked up dark crusade.

Meh, I don't like that type of game much but it seems like a good deal!

I personnaly "hated" (read didn't like) the Warhammed 40 K games. They didn't feel very in depth, more like spam units as fast as possible and attack move to the other side of the map ^^.

Company of Heroes though, which some people say is very similar to Warhammer 40K, is much more fun for me. I can use my turtle tactics :p (Mach defenses Hans!!!) and have a very long, in depth, strategy game. (before getting blasted away by the big guns)

great buy, played dark crusade and loved the game so much, for me it's the best rts game i've ever played(along with company of heroes). the original game is not worth it though, since dark crudsade features all the content and races(along with 2 new races) from the the first game, not to mention the completely new campaign.

But you cannot play as those races unless you own the other games....so yes it is definitely worth having DOW and WA as well. Personally, I think DA is the weakest of them in length comparisons, as the new multiplayer isn't half as good...

Company of Heroes is better if you prefer more realistic, in depth tactics, but DOW is great fun as well, both different sorts of games but definitely both similar enough to overlap and both be excellent fun.

How is the multiplayer "new and half as good"? The multiplayer is exactly the same as its always been, only with the addition of 2 new races.

No, it's not. There's new units, and new and very game altering restrictions on army sizes....

I'm gonna revive this instead of making a new thread.

I finally found my DoW:GE manual with my CD key and installed it on this laptop (G1). I was all ready to play but I got this error

    Errors:
Spooge driver not found. Verify that DirectX is properly installed.

Seems alot of people have been having this issue, so I went and downloaded the most recent drivers from Asus' website but that still didnt fix my problem, the Dxdiag. doesn't even show that I installed a new driver I wonder what the deal is and how I could fix it.

If you have an Ati card, use omega drivers. If you have an nvidia, use laptopvideo2go drivers. The 'newest' Asus ones probably aren't that new at all.

Laptopvideo2go hasn't been too friendly with me. I can never find a good driver for my Go 7700, and even if I did the last time I used them they never really helped :(
