I posted this here because I want to know what the gaming community thinks about a wireless mouse. I already have a Lachesis and I need a new gaming mouse for my Sager. I was leaning towards the G9 until I found this. It's a lot more expensive but it can be both wireless and wired. Last night I was playing BF2 with a small Logitech wireless notebook mouse and I did pretty good. My Lachesis is definitely a fast mouse, but is the difference that noticeable between wireless and wired?

so far, wireless mice have always experienced notable lag (exception here to a certain degree would be the Logitech G7) compared to wired mice.
on a side note, the upcoming X8 by Microsoft will feature both wired and wireless modes as well. -
wireless mice can't be trusted.

If it was only wireless, I would have lost a lot of respect for Razer, however the hybrid wired/wireless feature is innovative. I'd be interested in trying this, though I have never been a fan of wireless mouse.

I've gamed on just basic wireless mouse' and noticed that the biggest factor is your own reaction time vs the mouse' reaction time. Like I said, I played with a low spec wireless mouse last night and was in the top of my team if it had not been for those ace fighter pilots in BF2 lol. I guess they use sticks.

I haven't tried the wireless "gaming" mice, but every single wireless mouse I've ever owned always had some form of delay, making it almost as hard to aim playing an FPS as it is for me to use a controller. Another thing I hate about them is how heavy they are, I typically play FPS's with the tips of my fingers on the mouse only, and when the mouse has batteries or weights in it, it just considerably slows me down.

From what I have read, the biggest diffrence in the mamba wireless mouse and most others, is that the mamba uses 2.4 ghz technology similar to cordless phones and the r/c world. People are using 2.4ghz transmitors and receivers to fly $2000+ r/c helicopters and jet air planes where the slightest lag can cause big problems. I would say that the mamba should be quiet a bit better then the regular bluetooth wireless mouse.
-
wireless is okay imo, although i use a mx518(sweet mouse).
your own skill will be the biggest factor. -
I would like to see they update the DeathAdder (129$ for the mamba is really too expensive). I like the new scrollwheel design of the Mamba thou.

I've been using wireless mice almost exclusively for the past 3-4 years. The first wireless mouse I had was a ball mouse made by micro innovations. It REALLY sucked, especially for gaming.
Then I upgraded to an optical Microsoft wireless explorer 2.0. It was better, but it left something to be desired.
Now I'm using the logitech VX revolution. It uses the 2.4GHz wireless frequency. No lag at all. The only thing is that it needs higher DPI. 800dpi just isn't enough for games. The mamba is 2.4GHz and it has a very high dpi so it should be perfect. -
I played with a wireless micro$oft mouse for a long time, and as soon as I got my Razer Diamondback 3G and got used to it, my gaming improved.

very good now all i need is 130 dollars

$130?! Lachesis here i come
-
what, the razer 3000 or is 4000 dpi not enough???

Guys, it's wireless and wired. You can plug the wire connector into the gap between the two mouse buttons.
I bet if this was a Logitech product, people wouldn't be bashing it. -
Heck, I use a Logitech VX Nano for my wireless mouse and haven't noticed any adverse effects to gaming so far. And I play a lot of BF2.
-
i have used a vx revolution in the past..about a whole year of serious fps gaming, and i can tell you that it has no lag what so ever..
As of the past year I have been gaming with a g9 just because I got tired of replacing batteries and I fell for the hype of the wired vs. wireless crap... the 2.4 ghz technology works flawlesly and althought im not a big razer fan I will not bash them on this one -

My Lachesis is set to 1700-1800dpi -
I am actually quite impressed with the battery life on my VX nano, however. Get over a month with extensive use. -
My Copperhead is always on 400dpi for normal use, and 800dpi for gaming.
Yeah I know, big waste. -
after playing around with the settings a lot, i like to set my mice to a very high dpi, generally what ever the highest is and then reduce the sensitivity till its at a good feel...
I can feel the difference in games like tf2 and css with that dpi...
It might be all in my head... but that difference in my head makes me play better -
Yeah, placebo effect.
In the end, its what ever helps you sleep better at night -
-
-
-
i don't think it's humanly possible to be accurate in fps games when your sensitivity is that high... unless you have insane hand/arm muscle control and can move your mouse 1mm at a time!

wow thats crazy maybe he has a spidersense
and its tingling!

I can't imagine how slow the response time would be for a wireless mouse. Missing a click for me may cost me the game in some games. I'm still sticking to my old but trusty Logitech MX518. I also have a friend with a Razer Diamondback. I didn't like the grip.
-
Wireless mouse usually gets 1-5ms response times depending on distance, reception, interference, etc. Wired will almost always get 1ms.
Wireless is still good, but i feel more confident knowing that my mouse is hard wired to the computer.
Im thinking of actually buying this Mamba to replace my Lachesis. Gotta love the Razer products.. -
Razer products are so awesome. You gotta love the minimalism and backlighting.
-
I guess you guys are slow -
The main reason I wanted to bring this back up, has anyone tried the Carcharias headset yet? I have been thinking about getting one. -
The blue lighting matches my current HDX + dock perfectly. -
I'm using a Diamondback 3G which I use at it's full 1800 DPI. I doubt I'm going to need it higher than that though.
-
I dont see why people say that wireless mice lag. Some may, but my VX Nano has zero lag. When I play CSS I see no lag in it at all. Only when my hand moves blurring fast it will skip(which never happens in game).
EDIT: I have to agree that the weight of wireless mice might annoy the frail ones here -
Razer Mamba (and Carcharias)
