I loved my amiga 600 so much! I had Final Copy for writing and word processing and luckily with some work I managed to transfer files over to docs, but had to manually go in and remove the formatting characters that didn't transfer over. That was a PITA but I did it to save my writing. :)

DId you ever play mind Walker or Trinity? Those two were cool games too. :D

We joke, but I often wonder if our video cards can get too advanced for old games (and lose legacy functions)...... :D

Just tried that Pac-Man in the link and those ghosts are much smarter than the original Pac-Man and follow different paths. Play a MAME version and you'll know.

It happens. More of a software / OS issue than anything else. Think of all the old DirectX issues with compatability. Vista breaks this again, sorta, with DirectX 10 completely incompatible with older versions. Makes sense, at least they offer a pseudo-DirectX 9, but it isn't 100% compatible either. Kind of like PS3 and X360 only supporting certain games from previous gen hardware.

What makes me think of my above statement about losing functions is my experience today with Red Alert. I'm playing it on Vista with my X200M, and I don't remember it looking so, um...... blocky, when I played it on the hardware of the time.

Maybe some of it is a perception thing, I dunno...... :D

I think part of that "blockiness" is that older games were played on CRT screens, which actually switched to that native res. But believe it or not, yes it probably was that blocky, it was just the best at the time and it didn't phase you.

You bring up a good point about the CRT monitors. I remember first gaming on an early LCD and I hated it because of the blatant pixelation.
