    Hi there,

Some days ago I bought a new hard drive for my laptop. I had to install the operative system and all the drivers and so. Everything is ok and the laptop is very fast with the new hard drive.

Well, the problem comes when I launch a 3D application (games, benchmarks, ...). 8 of 10 times the laptop freezes at the few seconds (no more than 10) of launching the program. I have to push down the power button to switch off the computer.

I have DirectX drivers up to date. I've installed different video drivers. And the result is always the same. Even yesterday instead of crashing, it "lost" the drivers during a game. I had to reboot the computer.

And this is totally random, but it happens like I said 8 of 10 times. The times when there're no problems I can play during hours.

Any suggestion? What can be happening?

    Thanks in advance

download hardware montior and see how hot your X700 is running. also did you clean the vents out? it might be running to hot or overheating

This X700 doesn't have temperature's sensor but the laptop is not hot to touch and it happens three seconds after launching a game, even in the main menu. Also I have a Cooler Master NotePal Infinite plugged in and it helps to keep cool the laptop.

It has to be other thing. Is a random issue. I can be playing for hours without a problem and other times it crashes instantly.

Yes, I'm using those right now. I've also tried Omega Drivers, ... In fact, I was using latest Omega Drivers two weeks ago with old hard drive and never had a problem like this. In three years no problems.

No, I still have not reinstalled Windows again. I installed it in this new hard drive just 12 days ago I think and I can't uninstall it now because I have things to do and cannot lose one day reinstalling everything again. But if nothing works I'll do that, no doubt, but right now I can't.

yeah that what i would try bec ause try might be a file in windows that is missing something that is not needed by windows to start or run. but when you use the video card there might be a file or something missing.
