Alright, now that I have a computer, I'm looking forward to some nice looking games.
Here's what I DON'T want to play:
No first person shooter (which eliminates 80% of the new games). For some reason, aiming and shooting is very difficult for me. It's difficult physically because for some reason I always lose and just cannot point and click fast enough. I lost to computer on easy in Unreal Tournament 2004 many many times, then died many times in Rainbow Six games against computer... Mentally, pointing a gun at someone and shooting his brains out just feels weird.
No racing games if the game is just about racing (another 10%'s gone). If the game's about racing and having someone in my car shooting at other cars, that's a little better.
No Oblivion. There's TOO MUCH to do in that game, and I don't like it when I can do too much.
EDIT: No RTS based on stuff like WWI or WWII. RTS based on wars of aliens vs. humans or medieval warfare or something like that is ok (Starcraft, age of mythology, age of empires, are such are good).
Here're the games I've played...
Counterstrike
Day of Defeat
Medal of Honor (not on PC)
All Rainbow Six series
All Command and Conquer series (Tiberium Wars was decent)
All Splinter Cell series
All Doom series (hated Doom 3)
All Unreal Tournament series
All Thief series
All Civlization series
All Heroes of Might and Magic series
All Age of ____ series (empire, mythology, etc)
All Total War series (enjoyed those a lot)
All Grand Theft Auto series (enjoyed those too, looking forward to GTA4 for PC)
All Fable series (liked Lost Chapters)
All games by Blizzard (liked Diablo I and II a lot, hated WoW)
Guild Wars (hated how I could be in 20 quests at one time)
All Rollercoaster and almost all other Tycoon games
All Sims (I liked them, but starting to dislike them, they don't give me the drive like GTAs do)
So... any suggestions?

Empire Earth
Stronghold, crusader and 2(my favorite) -
empire earth 2, rise of nations, tycoon games, flight simulator

How about Armagetron, its a simple little, almost strategy kind of game where you have to trap the other opponent(s)... its free and you can play on line

Dawn of War Dark Crusade
Evil Genius -

Flight Simulator X FTW!!! (With all those limitations, this is the first game that comes to my mind...)

You've ruled out all the most fun games! Why oh why?
I'd say go sign up for the 15 or so day trial with Gametap
Your bound to find hundreds of games that you'll like. -
so i guess youre more of an RTS kind of guy so i can recommend Company of Heroes. its a WWII strategy game that is rly fun. it got many awards and stuff too...check it out!

Company of Heroes, Battlefield 2142 is a MUST in my opinion
If you have a great computer with great hardware, you will LOVE Battlefield 2142 and Company of Heroes. Those are my picks.

I think out of those games suggested (I've played a few of those as well, but didn't list in my first post), Dawn of War sounds the best.

oh yea i forgort Dawn of War, though i hated how they ripped you off with the 2nd "expansion game" which required you to install the entire game again...
all tycoon games? have you ever played dinopark tycoon? lol -
Deus Ex. Not new, but good.

Don't forget Company of Heroes, excellent RTS, I really do recommend it. Dawn of WAr is not too bad either. THe same company made COH.

On second thought, from the few IGN videos of Dawn of War, I don't think I'll enjoy it much after finishing Tiberium Wars...
-
stronghold crusader is one i have to reccomend. the pharoah/cleopatra? sim city 4, i can't remember if you played that one. what about warcraft 3?
-
Medieval II: Total War
-
Two games you may want to consider are "Silent Hunter 4", a World War 2 submarine game where you command a US submarine and target enemy ships and convoys along Japan's coast, and KOTOR 2, which is obviously the sequel to the original KOTOR, which you mentioned you already played.

what do you say about company of heroes?!?!? we've mentioned it 3 times already and you havent said anything about it yet...

-
patrician 3. its pretty old, but i reckon you should check it out. its like $10 over here in oz, so it will be less over in the US.

you dont like a lot of things lol. I personally liked silent hill 2 over 4. The scariest game i've ever played -
Sam and Max (by TellTale games) http://www.telltalegames.com/
Runaway (by Focus Interactive) http://www.runaway-thegame.com/
Secret of the Ark (aka Angel of Death by Adventure Company)

Since you liked Diablo I and II why not go for Titan Quest and its expansion (Immortal Throne). Its as good if not better than Diablo II.

Give them a try you might like them. -

You could try
The Guild 2 (NOT GUILD WARS)
The Stronghold Series
Medieval 2 total war -
If you want a good RPG:
Gothic 1 (if you can find it; it's a bit old) or Gothic 2 Gold. Gothic 3 is trash, don't get it.
They're in the vein of Morrowind, but with smaller worlds that are more detailed and interesting IMO. And, they have a better combat system (excluding 3). -
i never played one or 2, but i quite liked 3.

(Played every Total War game) -
Seeing from your sig that you like Clancy stuff, you might like Hitman II Blood Money. I havent played the PC version, but the console version was pretty fun and creative. You might try Supreme Commander if your rig can take it. -
i agree with you about aoe3 being worse than aoe2. but i like m2TW better than rome.
-
never got the chance to play M2TW...look at my sig....lol
But Rome TW was great, and yes jeff I have to agree that AOE2 was much better than 3. -
yes, you might have some trouble running total war. but look at your sig. "a 9700 is higher than a 8600gt, but i guess, its only a pro"
-
yeah i nkow jeff its so annoying that its only a pro you know.....LOL just wait until the GF 9700m come out lol.
-
-
most of the game is melee, except archers. you only get gunpowder late in the game, and even then most units are still melee.
i have to admit, i only played the demo of rome, so my opinion is not well supported
i don't know about the turn based of rome, so i really can't compare that.
but compared to the origonal medieval, its about 20 times better. -
AmazingGracePlayer Notebook Deity
I also agree AoE 2 is better than AoE 3. I think time-wise, I played AoE games the most (1, 2, and 3).
As of Medieval 2 Total War, in combat, all you can do is kill. I don't mean I don't like watching my Byzantine Vanguards slaughter those Hungarian peasants, but there's nothing else I can do. In Rome Total War, I could use Screeching Women to scare off the enemy while they charge into my spear wall. I could use druids to boost my own moral... Or I could use Naked Fanatic's warcry, and other ability to boost or reduce moral/fear/etc, etc. But in M2TW, there's none of those..... Which is the biggest disappointment. -
BTW, to fix the unit variation problem in MTW:2 just install some good mods, like Lands to Conquer, Darthmod, or that really really large mod that's like 2 gigs... forget the name

Hmmm i see that titan quest is already mentioned, but that is a really great game.
Another diablo like game is called mythos, it is made from the same people as diablo, but is currently in closed beta testing. I am one of the testers and so far it seems pretty fun. Graphic wise the characters look like WoW, gameplay it feels like diablo. When the game is complete it will be 100% free to download and play. Oh i think its a mmo too, not 100% sure yet (i've only played it for 30min so far)
i see you have played kotor, but the darkforces/jedi knight series is fun, so i think you should pickup a copy of academy or outcast and give it a try. -
Not sure how good it is (since it is apparently being released today in the US), but Loki may be a good game. In some previews it is being compared to Diablo. There is a demo of the game available at the link below:
