In the Original RA and in RA2 two, i'd chronoshift my enemies mammoth tanks into the lake or their Cruisers onto land.

Boy, did that ever piss them off. :)

I loved the ant missions in ra1 counterstrike. I've played every single cnc ra games.

What would you guys do if they eliminated naval units and used the same old SAGE engine as well as adding depressing background music that you don't know it's even there? I'd be pissed lol.

In RA2, if you play as libya (demo trucks), and have aquired the chronosphere and iron curtain. It's over for them lol. The crazy ivan, flak track, iron curtain combo works too.

tiberium wars. the music and engine that is. The waters are probably already contaminated by tiberium so naval is not feasible.

Yay! A new C&C game. Kane's Wrath is also due over a month.

I wonder how they're gonna pick up the story after RA2. Before then the RA series and the Tiberium Series were linked to each other, but I'm not so sure after RA2. It was a fun game, but ridiculous at the same time.

Different timelines (and storylines), a gameplay difference would be the inclusion of a navy for the Red Alert series which CnC does not have (not sure about Tiberium Wars since I don't have it).

Same genre and virtually identical gameplay differences, the navy difference adds an extra layer of complexity to the RA series.

Dude, just go and BUY (or "borough") Red Alert 2... It would still be the best game for any strategy game fan ;)
And no, RA series is WAY different than CNC series... no Tiberium involved(Ore instead)... themed around Allies versus Soviets, cold war... and way better units IMO... way WAY WAY better.... Oh and the story too!

Not really crazy about this. Red Alert 2 was just OK, Red Alert original was a timeless classic - one of the finest multi-player experiences ever.

I can see this being a good game, don't get me wrong, but just not truly Red Alert as we know it. But that's just me - Even Generals and C&C3, for me, were good, but not really Command and Conquer - much like Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat 3d is still Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat, but it's just not remotely the same, regardless of how good it actually is.

I would recommend to anyone to play RA original first, then RA2 - I seem to be one of the very few however that think the original game is by far both the best RA game, and the best game in the entire series (especially when you include the add-ons, known as Retaliation on the old Playstation)

Oh lord, I hope it doesn't end up like C&C3, the game play is horrible in that game. I love the old RA2 style, where base building is more of the center of focus, for example, stronger base defenses. In C&C3, if you have a group of let's say 5 - 10 of the strongest units of any race, you can easily wipe out the opponent's base because the defense mech in the game sucks.

Wow, I kinda miss this! RA was my first RTS after all...

I just loved it when those Tesla Coils pwned... just about everything. lol. :D

And yeah I miss Navy units... Subs, ships, etc.

BTW, isn't C&C, like, the title of the game and Red Alert the, uhm, "sub"title? Like, say:
    Command and Conquer: Red Alert
    or:
    Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun
    or:
    Command and Conquer: Generals

The navy didn't offer any real new kind of strategy IMO. When I played allies I would build a assload of cruisers, sail them near the enemy base and bomb them back to the stone age. Cruiser spam was great.

Otherwise I'd just go for tankspam. Works in evey C&C game like a charm. RA2 was really good in this deparment. Man those prismtanks wreaked everything once they levelled up. (Which wasn't so hard either to do. :D).

One thing that they need to do is give the ability to save mutliplayer LAN games. I used to play Red Alert head to head with my bro and those were some of the best times. Some games used to last a week or more playing about 2 hours a day. Good times.

Then out of nowhere, the lan game save feature went the way of the dodo. That's happened in just about all the RTS games. Not everyone plays on the net against multiple players. LAN games are games played against people you know and arrange to play with at a set time and place.

    BRING BACK LAN GAME SAVE!!!

Yeah. Soviets were king. Those heavy tanks were cheap and with five war factories you could churn 'em out like crazy. I'd usually rush when I had near 50 of those babies. Lol, no defense could stop me. And I kept on building to make up for losses. :D

Tiberium Wars was fun with Mammoth spam. C&C and RA never really allowed spamming with those 'cause they cost too much and were slow to build and you needed to work your way high up the tech tree which took a lot of time and money.

You ll be dead if you can even stock up 50... i rush as soon as i get 7 or 8.. then keep popping them until i die... 50++ tanks are like late game for me, and those tanks are either mammoth or prism tanks.

It worked plenty good for me. :D First I invested in some defense. Tesla coils were fine and then I started building. Basically I spammed everything I could get my hands on.

Dog spam was a bad idea though. Buzzer spam sucked to. Man was that dissapointing. I'd hoped to have discovered a new Zerg rush.

Most C&C games were won by spamming. There was and is no real strategy involved.

Still, the hardest C&C game was the Covert Operations. OMG, were those missions even designed with mere mortals in mind?
