I loved RA and RA2, but it's a while ago. So, to anyone who are playing Red Alert 3, does it worth it ?? THX

RA3 is rather poor, but fun still.
I have yet to finish the campaigns, they keep you busy for a while.

Starcraft 2, now that`s an epic game I`ve been really waiting for 10 years now :D

    I didn't liked it.

In my opinion the EA didn't offered us what we offered at 2008, let see what they will do this year.

Nothing beats Tiberian Sun along with Total War and other mods. Red Alert 2 is also great but Red Alert 3 does not come close but is still fun.

RA3 is short. Beat the 3 campaigns in 20 hours total. Graphic requirements are very low, the X3100 can play it.

Are you interested in mods? If not then I don't recommend it. In fact I still have to wait and see what the exp pack has to offer.

Well surely that's a good thing. Means more people can play it, not just the gaming elite with their super duper computers.

I found it rather tiresome and boring as well. Cut scenes/briefing were ok, a few good looking bits of eye candy made up for Tim Currys bad russian accent and the other poor acting, especially George Takei...

If you're a long time fan of the Red Alert series. Get it. The campaign is awfully short, roughly 6 hours per side in medium difficulty. And if you liked the trademark cheesy and comedic FMVs in RA2, you'll love RA3. But the gameplay part is the best. It's quite varied now and you'll be amazed at how many strategies you can pull off in Red Alert 3.

I don't know about the naysayers putting off the game, but they're probably being thrashed really hard in multiplayer games. Ahahahahaha! =D Back in RA2, you can just spam 1-2 units and win the game. In RA3, you'll need to be good at micro-ing (doing micro management) since units have special abilities now and everything's just varied. Story-wise, I preferred RA2, but gameplay-wise, you probably suck at RTS games if you say the gameplay is crap. It's vastly improved now and the learning curve is steep especially for multiplayer games.

I really recommend buying Red Alert 3 if you're a competitive RTS gamer.

The demo seemed pretty nonsensical to me - attacking with dolphins and bears, wars that didn't make much sense in the backstory (not that a whole lot of wars necessarily do, but these really didn't seem to). Try it yourself. For me, not having played another Red Alert, it made me wonder what all the talk about it was about, and how it ever got to a third iteration.

I played the original so many years ago and really enjoyed it. I never played RA2, but purchased RA3 and have enjoyed it. It seems likes most of the folks who have posted on this thread did not like it because it didn't live up to the previous iteration.

Maybe that's why I like RA3. Yes, the cut scenes are campy and poorly acted, but I think that's the point. It's supposed to be tongue in cheek. The gamplay is good IMO and I'm grateful the graphics are at a level that you don't need a beast to play it. IMO, it's more enjoyable that C&C3, not necessarily better constructed or better looking.

If you can find it for $30.00 or under, I'd get it.

That is the point! The B-movie acting is a trademark of the Red Alert series! RA1 was quite serious. RA2 turned out to be a bit more humorous (this one, everyone will have to agree with). RA3 was just comical. You can see it from the artwork, the art style, the game captions, unit descriptions, almost everything. Sure, I thought that another time-travel fiasco + the Japanese was pretty absurd when I first heard of it. After getting the game and playing it throughly, it's actually pretty good and the gameplay is just awesome. It's very difficult but it's a very rewarding experience once you've got all the basics of each side down. Everything from build order, harassment methods, kiting, and even spamming (for 1v1 games).

What I'm disappointed about is the soundtrack. I didn't like it very much. But then again, that's how I felt when I first got Red Alert 2. I was like... "What? They don't have a remix of Radio?". I also didn't like the fact that I CAN'T change the background music while playing! My favorites in RA2 were Hell March 2, Grinder, and Tension, and they were mostly what I play in the background. I also bought the RA3 Premier edition and it came with some bonuses including the soundtrack. Sad to say, when I placed the CD on my PC, it didn't have any track titles. For me it was worth it, even though it was costly. It was 6500 Php (around $130) but it came with a Microsoft Sidewinder X6 gaming keyboard and a nice laptop bag and the typical RA3 Premier edition with extras. The basic version here costs $25.

Tsavonglah1, if you ever get RA2, you'll know what I mean about the gameplay. RA3's gameplay and fun factor is waaayyy better. These guys are just suffering from being traditionalists. If they find RA3 too hard, they can stick to spamming GIs, Prism tanks, and Apocalypse tanks back in RA2. That'll take the heat off.

BTW, a new expansion pack is coming soon. Can't wait for the new units!

Lastly regarding the requirements, they've done a very good job. My 3+ year old laptop runs it silky smooth at 1680x1050 on medium-ish settings and it still looks really good (especially the effects such as explosions). Kudos to EA for making this available to a wider audience. Bigger audience = more people to play with = more fun.

FYI, it's too easy... gameplay wise, is Generals style, not original C&C. If you really want hard games, go back and try the original, Red Alert (1).

Well, this is the general POV of people who played the entire lines of C&C.

Another thing to point out is, the game is tuned for online matches, the campaign sucks, IMHO.

And you think I didn't play the whole CnC line as well? I have all the CnC games starting from CnC Gold Edition. FYI, CnC1 > RA1 in terms of campaign difficulty. RA3's campaign is a joke. 'Hard' was hardly hard. But the multiplayer aspect still stands out, no matter how hard you hit the crappy AI opponents. If people still judge the gameplay based on their experience with the single player, I pity them.
