I'm pretty sure the 1525 will handle RA3 with relative ease.
EDIT: Incorrect~ Dell 1525's only come with integrated Intel X3100 graphics :( sorry

    System requirements
    OS – Windows XP / Vista (32-Bit)
Processor – XP: 2.0 GHz (Intel Pentium 4; AMD Athlon 2000+; Multiple Cores) / Vista: 2.2 GHz (Intel Pentium 4/AMD Athlon 2200+/Multiple Cores)
    Memory – XP: 512 MB / Vista: 1 GB
Video Card – XP: 64 MB / Vista: 128 MB
Sound Card - DirectX 9.0c compatible
    DirectX - Version 9.0c

We should all get together and run a RA2 party before RA3 is released. RA2 was one of the finest RTS' I've ever played. My Dad still plays RA1 on the Playstation lol.
    Mammoth tanks for the win!

For those who can't remember what it looked like on PS, I offer this timeline:

RA1: Fun, Easy to Learn, and two words: Tesla Coils....

RA2: Terror Drones, Prism Tanks, War Miners, and a crazy guy named Yuri who even got his own expansion
My Favorite Quote: "I don't give a wooden nickel about your legacy!"

RA3: Better graphics? Build on water? Just hope EA doesn't screw up the magic that worked before.

Yeah, it'll run for sure, probably not to highest settings (not sure what's the best card in the 1525), but yeah.

Speaking of RA3, I'm actually a little disappointed at the physics of the game. It feels a little...sloppy for a 2008 game.

Um, the suggestions in this thread are not good ones.
The Inspiron 1525 only is available with intel GMA X3100.
Which is a very low end card.

RA3 is no crysis, but it's not going to be lighter on systems than CNC3 was. And CNC3 will hardly run on an X3100.

So to better answer your question, RA3 will run, on the lowest settings, but it will probably lag even like that. Possibly to the point of being unplayable even.

Oh, is GMA X3100 the only card on the 1525? Then I take back what I said...I was assuming the 1525 would have an 8600 or 9600M GT...sorry! :p

Yeah sadly the 1525 was when they decided to start pushing the XPS for games instead of Inspirons, that was when they stopped offering the 8600 in the 1520 and also released the 1525.

Doesn't seem too much weaker to me. It could come with 256MB nVidia 8600GT. Slower processor I bet though.

    NBR review of 1520 here

@Hep! Did they just drop the 8600GT in the shift to the 1525 to sell more XPS'?

Yes. They changed directions, the Inspiron line was no longer for budget gaming like it was before (A pretty fully loaded 1520 with only slightly less powerful components than the XPS counterpart was about 35% less money). They made XPS for if you wanted to game, and the only way to get a Dell that games, and they aimed the crosshairs of the Inspiron line at budget home users... light office, internet browsing, school work, etc.
They also eliminated the option for the Inspiron 1520 to get an 8600GT, even though the 1520 was still available.
The 1520 and 1525 are very similar. Both use Intel processors, they both use the same generation of Intel processors (merom and penryn)

AznFlamer, he is confused about the definition of predecessor.
new found glory - predecessor means next generation pretty much, something that proceeds something else.

I thought predecessor meant 'came before' (like precedes) hence the prefix pre

    Hooray for Engrish! :p

Either way, I'm liking the 1520's specs better.

The M1330 is not a lower end model. The 8400M GS at its time was the second most powerful GPU packed into a 13" package. The only better GPU was ther 8600 GS in the LG P300. I played current gen games, such as COD4 and TF2 at native res (1280x800), low-medium graphical settings, and ~100 FPS. Pretty good when you think about it.
You can now get 9300GS's , the same power as the 8400, 9400GT's, slightly more powerful, as well as some pretty comparative ATI cards like the 3450.

The XPS line is now being merged with the Inspiron line - called the Studio XPS. This is aimed at budget users with less graphics performance, but is also supposed to be more stylish and high end than the Inspirons. I believe the higher end XPS's will be around for a while, but I also think this is a reason why the M1530 has not been refreshed.

The Inspiron 1525 will not be able to run it, I'm having enough trouble trying to run C&C Tiberium Wars with a 128mb dedicated geforce 5200, 1gb ddr1, 3.2 Ghz Proc.

I'm getting the Gateway P-7811FX, so that'll fix things up for me :) now where is my cooling pad.

Really a big Red Alert fan.....but I'm saving up for Fallout 3 and GTA IV. And I just bought PES 2009 and a new pair of Shure earphones, so I'm kinda broke to buy RA3

I think Red Alert 3 will run on the x3100, at around 5 fps at lowest setting :D (depend on the fact that I can run C&C3 at 10 fps and below :)

Guys, how many FPS you think I can get on a X4500 for RA3? Will it be playable? X4500 is supposedly twice as powerful as x3100 but that's not much. I run Guild Wars, World of Warcraft at very playable levels. TF2 gets slow (below 20 fps) when the action heats up but I would say still somewhat playable.

Not much better. X4500 is actually like 50% better not 100% better, so if the X3100 is getting 5 FPS on lowest settings, you'll get 7-8.

    Medium/High with 1280x800 resolution (native)

    steady 25fps~.

    here are my tweaks:

    Shadows: Med
    Shaders:Med
    Terrain: Ultra High
    Model detail: High
VFX (i think thats wat its called): High
    Water detail: Medium
    Resolution: 1280x800
    AA: Off
    Texture detail: Ultra High

I dont know why but my fps maxes out at 30 :S

    really fun game though!

    nvidia 9300 GS also, intel p8600 2.4GHz, 2gb DDR3, 13.3" screen (native 1600x900)
I'd be happy with it at 1366x768 kinda thing :)

Any onther changes to the gfx setup you use..?
