I've only played the game for a very short period of time. I bought it the day it came out.
Not sure if anyone else feels this way, but I feel kinda disappointed with the graphics/gameplay...maybe I need to play more missions to get a hang of it. They seem to have brought back this cartoon type graphics from RA2 (which I didn't like). I feel detached from the missions when playing the game. I skipped the C&C2 and RA2 because of the graphics/gameplay they introduced. C&C3 feels so much different and I think is probably a better designed game compared to RA3.

I've played through 6 missions of SOViet and what I don't like about RA3 is the cartoonish graphic and the different between faction has been reduced too much (my favourite prism tank is no more( ). What I like very much is the sound and the music is very clear and add a lot of heat to the match.
Overall, it's a little dissapointed but the soul of RA is still there -
I gotta admit, the "you + bear" mission was awesome...."The full might of the Russian army will be at your disposal for this mission..... ..."

I can see all the negative reviews, but I still really like how they made it. Especially the part where I have a side base completely in the ocean -
ok so I finally got my copy of the game, but I'm having a problem. I'm having some very weird graphics problems. I had been using the most up to date drivers that Gateway/windows update provides and then updated to the most recent drivers from laptopvideo2go. Both drivers are giving me black lines of various sizes and shapes that randomly appear all over the screen as I'm playing the game and when the action get even moderately heavy big parts of the screen flicker a black box. It did this with C&C 3 with the laptopvideo2 go driver(180.43) , but I fixed it by going back to the most up to date Gateway driver. The only way to stop it is to lower the graphics to the lowest setting, but with an 8800mGTS I know I can play RA3 on way higher settings than that. Any help guys?

Is it out yet? Haven`t been following the news.
I`m a fan and I`ll get it as soon as I can -
I guess what interests me is whether it still suffers from the same old problem that all these games always have! Namely that, imo, they always seem to actually lack strategy. It quickly becomes apparent that there is a way to "win" and you just go through the motions rather - typically a big tank rush lol!
Note I havent played a C&C game for years so perhaps its all changed? -

You'd have better luck micromanaging a variety of different units. Some of the support units can really change the way the game is played.
Against a human player, as soon as they see you focusing on one unit type, they can easily counter it. -
Patch 1.04 is out. Go to CnC's official site to download it now.

i just got the game and played a few campaigns, lol pretty neat, and really nostalgic. sometimes tho the rock paper scissors style of units is quite unfair, almost always they get wiped out xD
anyway its not game of the year material but they did what i always expectedgo E.A

ok I've tried about 6 or 7 different drivers and not one of them fixes the problem I'm having. Anyone out there with an 8800m GTS what driver are you using?
Wonder if 1.04 will fix my issues? -
As for the video drivers, did you enter in the correct PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_ and &SUBSYS_ of your laptop (on laptopvideo2go)? -
T5550
8800m GTS
4GB RAM
It's a stock Gateway P-6860FX. I have made absolutely no modifications to it at all except for adding a second HD in RAID 0.
How do I check for the correct video driver? Didn't know I had to do that. I also have a video of it in action going bananas. Should have it up in about an hour or so. -

the multiplayer online player options suck...at one time you have say 2 games or max 8 games to join...most of the time you need to do an automatch of 1v1 or 2v2...spend your $49.90 on other things...

Anybody have any advice on what I can do to fix my problem. I've also posted this in the RA3 forums.
-
Do you see where it says Device Key:?
Device Key: Enum\PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0609&SUBSYS_0690107B&REV_A2 (That's what I got from your dxdiag)
Copy "0609" and paste into PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_ box. Copy "0690107B" and paste into &SUBSYS_ box
Laptopvideo2go. You'll need to try several drivers until you get a good one.
Oh yeah and make sure you select the correct OS -
Got 15 drivers listed. I'm going to try them all out. -
Just tried the 6th different driver...no luck so far.
-
Well I got to the 175.80 driver and decided to go one by one and figure out which setting is making the game go crazy.
Water Detail: ultra high makes a few black lines appear
medium no lines
VFX detail: Ultra High black boxes flashing
Low no black boxes flashing everywhere
Shadows: Ultra High Numerous black lines
Low goes away
Now I did some more research and found a couple people that have the same exact laptop as me and have everything on ultra high in RA3 with no problems at all. At first I was thinking this may be a driver issue, but with 4 drivers to go and still no remedy to my problem I leaning towards GPU defect. Now this is the only game where this happens so I don't know why I can have C&C 3 on max settings and World in Conflict on basically max settings and have no issues, but have so many problems with this game. There must be something in RA3's graphics that's an upgrade over those two games where my GPU does not agree with it and that's where the defect is. -
you can call me one of the early fans that started playing Red Alert, Red Alert 2 and the rest of the series, command and conquer, Tiberian Sun which was very different but same concept and the rest. i love the game, even today i keep remebering how fun it was back then.
BUT!!! after playing the new Command And Conquer 3, it was utter dissapontment. It was so cartooney, colors are too bright, looks cheap if you know what i mean.
The proportion of the units made the game so silly i was amazed. Thats one of the reasons i didnt like the game, how big everything was to proportion ot its environment.
Which brings me to Red Alert 3....Nothing changed from Command 3, same graphics, same concept, same huge units in a small scale environment, they just re-skinned the command and conquer 3 environment and units and thats all they made. What took them so long to make this game was the movie like in between scenes, which they go a little overboard with for such a game.
Seems the new RA3 will be attracting noobs rather than old schoolers who played the original.
All in all i wont be getting it, it seems as years go by someone else comes along and destroys a game was really good and try to "improve" things and in the end make it bad, sad. -

They're using the same engine called SAGE. It's like 7 years old now since Generals. They said they recoded 60% of the engine, but to me it's still SAGE. There are still pathfinding issues. I think it's about time EA scrap this old engine and make a better one.

i dont know about you but i like realistic, or somewhat realistic graphics which they could have done like the World at War series Tom Clancy will be launching soon, now thats what i call a strategy game with realistic graphics and where objects arent in an assortment of every color in the rainbow....
Oh forgot to mention, strategy in this game as in the C&C3 is non existant, its the same old tactic, build as much as you can and zerg the enemy base, i know thats what i did in C&C3 because that was the only way of actually winning -
and whatever they polished the game engine with between C&C3 and RA3 my graphics card doesn't agree with.....and I'd like to know since it is the same game engine just modified why I can play C&C 3 on max settings and not RA3 not even close to max when I 100% should be able too???????? -
again, when you polish and add "upgrades" such as re-skin and etc you put in some new technology that might slow your card down. i never said they are using the same exact skins and etc, usually when companies reskin old tech they upgrade it which is whats causing the slow down in your system.

Will it run on the new macbook fine (2.4ghz), (bootcamp of course)?
-
-
* 2.4ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
* 2GB DDR3 Memory
* 250GB hard drive1
* NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics -
with a 9400 I'd say yes you can run it.
-
Well....pretty much every obvious remedy didn't fix my problem so as an absolute last resort I just reinstalled windows...yeh I went there!

I'm having another go at this game, after leaving it alone for a while after a few Soviet missions, and decided to try the Allied missions again - I still can't get past the first one! It's supposed to be this 'getting used to it' sort of mission, but that's three times I've tried on Easy and failed as the Kirovs approach and bomb the hell out of everything. Seriously, how do you kill them all without getting close to them, because then they simply drop a bomb and blow away everything shooting at them? There's enough of them that I can't dodge away the whole time, since there's always a point that they reach my base and you have to get close or just let them bomb your HQ without a fight.
This game is frustrating - I want to like it, as I've been a fan since I won a copy of C&C back in '95 or '96, but it just aggravates me. The story is fine, the great cheesy acting is terrific, but this time I find there's just too much to try to remember doing with all the special abilities of every unit. How on Earth do you manage a mixed force with half a dozen shortkey assignations (one for each unit)so you can manage the individual special abilities of every one, whilst continuing to flick back to your base to keep building units and send them where you need? This was fine in the games until now, because it was only a rare few units who had special abilities, and you didn't often blink and lose half your carefully-built army. I swear I've never lost a commando-level unit so quickly before - 3 or 4 seconds after the "I am under attack" message and she's gone.
I can handle quick reactions in FPS, and I can manage complex abilities and roles in TBS games or less-manic RTS, but it's like you need to practice flicking through a whole lot of shortcut keys just to play the game. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel the same?
