I had this posted in the Red Alert 3 thread. I've gotten a lot of help, but nothing that has fixed my problem. Here is a video of my issue:

I have tried every driver from the stock Gateway driver to every modified driver from LV2G, and even drivers that were compatible with my card without a modified inf. Nothing has worked except for turning the graphics settings way down.
Here's what my setting have to be at to make it play without the graphical glitch:
Water Detail: ultra high makes a few black lines appear
medium no lines
VFX detail: Ultra High black boxes flashing
Low no black boxes flashing everywhere
Shadows: Ultra High Numerous black lines
Low goes away
Now I should be able to play this game on max settings. I didn't shell out my hard earned money to play this brand new game on settings that make it look like it came out of the 90's. I really want to play this game, but not unless i can play it with all the flair. Just can't bring myself to play it with the dumbed down settings when I know I should be able to max it out. I can max out the settings on C&C3 and pretty much max out the settings on World in Conflict. I have posted this over on the RA3 forums, but as with here have not gotten any advice that has fixed my issue. I'm at a loss on what to do next. Don't know if it's a driver issue even though I've tried dozens of them, or a GPU issue even though this is the only game that has this issue. I have also reinstalled the game a couple times.

the "video" is an image?

Now it should work.

Darth Bane Dark Lord of the Sith
wow. I would be pissed too. I really don't know, but maybe it wouldn't hurt to update to the latest dx update...

Try reformatting your computer (maybe there's a program interfering with your graphics card?). Then install Ra3 alone. Install Ra3 on a different computer as well. Does it work?

Maybe RA3 doesn't like 8800M GTS lol. Do you know anyone with 8800M GTS who plays Ra3? Might be hard to find though. If many ppl are having problems with Ra3 on that card, then you can safely assume it's a graphics card problem.
-
No I don't know anybody personally that has an 8800m GTS. I have seen a few people post on here with my exact laptop saying they run RA3 on max settings.
-
Really? I mean not just the model, but the specs? If it worked on theirs with the same spec as yours, then I'm assuming you have a faulty card. I'm not a tech wiz when it comes to the technology in hardware, but I'm thinking that the video card is not handling the graphics properly. It could be damaged. Reinstalling the OS didn't work.
Did you buy the laptop new, used, or refurbished?
Edit: Oh yeah, there's a demo for Ra3. Try that out. See if it works. -
Lower the graphic setting. I can run on medium (see spec) but all the junks (black white stripes, missing textures and polygons) will appear and crash my computer later on. It's just a buggy game with a heavily modified graphic engine. Somehow, just like a timebomb, exploding on you soon. Just don't play the game, it's not worth the trouble...

I'll bet my desktop 8800 GTS would play this without a hiccup.
The only net I have here besides the government network is wifi hotspots. It is my night off from work tonight so that'll give me plenty of time to dl the RA3 demo. I have been planning on doing it just haven't gotten around to it yet. I've gone back and forth from it being a driver issue to a GPU defect. I don't know what it could be considering this is the only game I play that has this issue. -
Is your game patched to the latest 1.05 version? There have been reports about video issues which may have been corrected with the patches.
-
Looks like gpu drivers, sometimes newest drivers aint the better ones.
My desktop 8800gtx would sometimes artifact and even bluescreen with certain drivers.
From what ive read it really depends on ur rig with how the drivers take effect. -

I have a Gateway 6860 as well and I'm able to run this game without any glitches on Ultra High settings (AA off). I'm currently using the 180.70 DOX drivers...however, from the sound of it...this looks like a different issue.
Not sure if you have attempted this or if it will really help at all, but try to set your nvidia control panel in standard settings with letting the application choose the best settings as an option. Thats how I currently have it setup. -
-
Demo...same problems
changing the control panel settings same problems.
I don't get how this might be a GPU defect which is what I'm leaning towards. C&C3 and RA3 are built on the same engine. RA3 has some modifications, but C&C3 plays fine on max settings. -
Well it looks like I might have to contact Gateway after I get back to the states and see what they can do for me. It's not a driver issue, or a corrupted disc or file as far as I can tell from all of the stuff I've attempted to try and fix this issue.

EDIT: 1.5 was the big patch that was supposed to fix everything so hopefully they keep at it.
