1 GB of RAM in both Vista and XP?! That doesn't look right. The video card requirements look okay although the 6 GB of HDD space for the EA Link looks downright dubious and akin to bloatware.

Well.. maybe its a very optimized game, since the new games run great, but i doubt that.. it has the EA tag xD

Considering it's a RTS the system requirements seems skewed toward the GPU rather than the CPU. Since a 2GHz Pentium 4, which never even had HT, is very slow nowadays, yet a 6800 or a X1800 is still pretty strong, better than the 8400M series that is common nowadays.

^^^ They're not very clear on the processor; they seem to be OK with either a 2GHz P4, or they want a 2GHz dual-core. Either way that is a huge difference. If its the latter, those requirements are steep.

all we can do is wait. i dont remember any modern game asking for a 2ghz P4 processor, maybe its the RTS i've waiting for.. but who knows..

it looks very GPU intensive, looks like I have "overkill" for the CPU, but barely at minimum requirement at the GPU level as my 8400gs performs at the same level as a 6800 if not worse. still going to try running it, been waiting for this game for a long time

Ati X1800 and above? wuosh, the X1800 is a pretty good card, so I guess the game should look awesome :D

well, id love to see and RTS that depends on the GPU more than the CPU, because that would be special :D

512 kbps (kilo-bits) down. its not that fast, thats like the cheapest high speed around. semi-broadband.

"Typically, the download speed of consumer DSL services ranges from 256 kilobits per second (kbit/s) to 24,000 kbit/s"

"[cable internet customers] are generally offered between two and ten megabits"

i remember some games calling for 4 mbps , so 512kbps should be no problem at all :D

What? I think that just means that Red Alert 3 won't be a 64-bit app. It'll still run in 32-bit mode using WoW64 (the 32-bit compatibility layer not World of Warcraft) in Vista x64.

Wow, pretty low reqs. I guess that's the advantage of continued use of SAGE.

    Hmm I'm getting an Asus M70VM with a Intel C2D P8400 2.2GHZ and a nVidia Geforce 9600M 512MB, I'm assuming it's the GS but hoping it's a GT (but I know it'll be a GS even though the page doesn't say so - http://www.meshcomputers.com/Defaul...SG=PRODUCT&ENT=PRODUCT&KEY=394773&APPS=234471)

So looking at those specs I'd say my new laptop will run that with no problems. For a change I might be able to enjoy a brand new game at reasonable settings :yay:

I just hope DoW 2 is as good on the requirements...

Two things I can see though - it's done by EA and Red Alert 2 was rubbish, RA 2 + EA = RA 3? or RA 3 = Good Looking low on content PoS?

This is good news, though not at all surprising since it's just running a modified version of the SAGE engine, which itself is just a modified version of the Westwood3D engine that's been powering all of Westwood/EA's 3D games since Emperor: Battle For Dune. Even C&C3 runs just fine at minimum details and native res on my old Gateway 7422GX.

I'm kinda lost here. Do you mean that it's the first modern game you've seen with such a low requirement for CPUs? Or is it the other way around?

Sorry to revive such an old thread. Was it ever confirmed whether or not RA3 runs on Vista x64?

I have x64 and it runs perfectly. The only thing you might find annoying is that it doesn't create a start menu thing (which means u have to make your own shortcut by going to the programs x86 folder).
