Just a heads up Red Faction 1 and 2 are available on STEAM.
If you never played these games, BUY IT.
FOr all the shooting games ive played growing up(100's) Red Faction probably had one of the best stories of any of them. It was also amazing that you can blow up a whole in a wall and make a tunnel to another area.
Juist a heads up that it is worth the try![]()

I owned both of these games on the playstation 2 and most of my fond memories of sitting around a tv with 3 other people and playing a fps center around these games. I remember when the first one came out it had destructible environments and I remember thinking not only was it the coolest thing to ever happen to shooting games but that it would soon be the future. I remember in the 2nd game they really ramped up the graphics but at the cost of destructibility but it was still an awesome game. These games also remind of the all the fun of getting 4 friends together huddled around a tv having a fragfest, I miss that in this day of online gaming. We had so much fun fragging each other, talking , in red faction then timesplitters and later halo. Now its about 8-10 years later and almost no other game comes close to the full on destruction except for the new red faction and its a shame its not a fps although I have it on ps3 and it is still alot of fun.
In conclusion gonna look for my old game discs and probably pick both of these up for computer also. -

Lol i am just like you then
Played these with my friends and we had SO much fun
It kinda went like this, the greatest FPS for me in N64 days was goldeneye and Perfect Dark. Those were the games where me and all my friends would sit around the couch curse, and laugh with each other great memories.
When I moved onto PS2 EXACTLY like you said, Timeplitters and Red Faction 1 and 2 were those games that you sat around chilling with your friends while playing. The coop on timeplitters, was amazing whereas in Red Facction the Death Matches were practically the best on the system.
You are right the destruction was definitely the greatest thing. That's why I was happy about Guerilla because they still kept that aspect of the game going. It also got good reviews as well. I will definitely pick it up for PC when i get the chance. -
I played the first one and i liked it, hows the second one compared to the first one?
-
Good old red faction, if you like shooters then you definitely need to get these two

Pre-order Guerrilla and get Red Faction 1 & 2 for free! $40 for all three games ain't a bad deal. Think I'll bite. I've been following Red Faction Guerrilla and it looks pretty decent.

Nof, that sounds great, i played the Demo and wasnt impressed(The demo was really bad) I knew the game was great though because of the ratings. I also LOVED the shooting i loved the 3rd person camera/feel it was unique. I still want to see them remake a Red Faction is First Person you know?
HT, you mean you missed Red faction?! (Well you didnt actually say that but...) -
Yes I DID miss Red Faction. Don't know how or why... But am going to give 1 & 2 a try. Funny thing is that the original Red Faction is 2GB in size and Red Faction II is 1GB.

lol really? It probably isnt compressed
Then again you may be surprised. These games if my memory serves me correctly were some pretty long campaigns like the 1st halo(I think only the first one was really long)
I missed out on Fallout 1 and 2 myself. I guess me and you are on similar boats -
Just started the original Red Faction for a few minutes. The graphics engine reminds me completely of Half-Life. Did they use the original Half-Life engine? Too bad widescreen isn't supported. Oh well.
In reading some reviews of the game written around the time of its release I realize why I skipped it. It received mediocre reviews at best. But then again, it was released during the same time as Half-Life and dozens of other similar games. -

Really? The PC version probably got Mediocre reviews. The PS2 version i remember scoring very high.
I think it uses an engine known as Geo Mod. -
I remember shooting ppl through a wall in multiplayer. That was fun!
