Im right in thinking that red faction gorilla should run Maxed on a GTX260m and a p8700 @ 2.53 Ghz but i seem to notice abit of slowdown making it sluggish/laggy and i was wondering if this is a universal Win 7 x64 problem or just me :L

It probably cannot run maxed, your cpu is the bottleneck.

    Requirements:

Lower the resolution, tweak the settings, get rid of AA, etc... it should run fine with the proper settings for your machine.

I just purchased this game on Steam so will let you know how it performs on my laptop (specs in sig). Can't wait to blow up some Mars gorilla.

    Edit:

I have this game at native resolution 1600 x 900, DX10, all high settings and I am getting a constant 49+ fps with no stuttering at all in game.

When there are lots of explosions or an entire building collapsing from an explosive charge for example, the fps drops down to 21 for a very short time, then to 30 fps and then back to normal 40-49 fps. It is hardly noticeable. Sometimes the fps is a constant 39 but it is always smooth.

I already love this game! The demolition is ace and I love doing all of that damage with a hammer, taking down an entire structure is so much fun!

It seems to be running a little too fast so I will read up on the speed fixes for Windows 7.

    Edit: Found fix here

    Details here

Maybe try forcing Dx9 for better performance.

    Edit:

Try connecting to Games For Winblows Live to make sure your Red Faction 2 is up to date. I notice smoother performance now but it could be due to the speed fix or the update, not sure which.
