So there is now 3 weeks and 4 days, till the extremely realistic Shooter set in WW2 is released, you all know that it is the one and only Red Orchestra 2! After seeing some screen shots and footage of the game i have to say that it looks AMAZING! The texture work seems really solid and so does the lighting really giving the desired effect! So am i the only one looking forward to shooting a nazi in the eye from afar with a 7.62 Mosin Nagant :3 What are you´ re thoughs, and are you going to buy it?

Already pre-purchased on Steam for $31.99.

Yeah im thinking of doing that too, but i just pre purchased Deus Ex, so itll have to wait till a little before release...
-
I haven't played RO since 2009, so I might be a bit rusty for this title.
-
Never played the first one but have been hearing all the hype for this one. How easy will it be to learn?
-
Yea I do want to play this game, but since Bf3 and Batman is coming out soon I don't think im going to get it right away. I wish they would have release it during the summer or before I wasted my money on Brink and Homefront...
-
killkenny1 Too weird to live, too rare to die.
No OP, you are not the only one. Unfortunately I'm a bit short on cash (PMDG just released 737 for M$FSX, flight sim geeks will understand me
), so I'll probably grab RO2 later, maybe next summer sale. But earlier I though buying this game ASAP. Oh well, we have to make some sacrifices, looks like RO will have to keep me amusing for some time. And oh yes, finally WW2 FPS about Eastern Front, what is more, damn realistic (judging by RO). Screw these COD forgeries...
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Yeah! I Really hope that they can keep the realism, and such! WW2 Shooter sim FTW
And to answer if its going to be hard to learn, it depends... You should first learn the crosshair of different sniper, the bulletdrop, recoil of weapons. And such, so it all depends if you are a good shot, and a quick learner...
-
Haven't played either but expect like any FPS online game. Put in 100 hours and you should be a champ
I think the biggest perk to this game will be that the developer appears to say they will update and provide new mechanics etc for at least 3 years after release. Meaning this is a game you have plenty of time to improve on and don't have to worry about upgrading your rig for the next version that is announced in less than 6 months of release like with DICE and Activision FPS games. BC2 was announced, and then MOH announced within a month and few months of that, BF3. COD games it seems are remade every year now also. Depends on the player I suppose, but for some this ROS game lasting for a few years before a replacement is announced be very nice. I'm sure the developer will begin work on their next game soon enough but it won't be polished and ready for release for years from now. Not like EA/Activision hiring hundreds and hundreds or taking employees from their other subsidiaries to work on the next game to be released in less than a year. -
Well it looks like previous owners of RO1 get a discount on RO2, so if anyone wants to get it at a slightly discounted 20% off, just PM and pay of course, and I'll gift the game to you. I'm not sure how many times I can do this, but it looks like I can still buy at the discount and gift it. I've already preordered for myself.
I'm excited for this title though, I've played it since it was the MOD of UT2004 for the make something unreal mod contest. I loved this game. I used to play it everyday, and just reinstalled it the other day. On maximum settings it still looks pretty decent for a older game. -
That's very generous of you, but I'm not really sure if it's worth it. With 20% discount it'll end up being $33.325, but if someone was to pay you through PayPal they'd have to also give you 5% extra for the PayPal charges on your end so it will really end up being $34.99. That will come out to a total of $1 in savings.
I don't remember, but this would make sense if Steam charges taxes based on the country of the user which in my case it would be 13%, while it might be lower on your end. Either way, if that's the case then I wouldn't mind your kind offer. -
SoundOf1HandClapping Was once a Forge
RO2 isn't really my thing. However, once Tripwire pushes it out the door, they can get back to doing Killing Floor-related stuff, which is a game I am interested in.
-
I have never played RO1 but I will most likely be getting RO2. I may pre-order next week if I have some money left over after building my new desktop. How smooth is the gameplay? Is it CoD smooth or is it more like BF?
-
I'm trying to decide either per-ordering this or "From Dust" from steam.. So far from all the videos and screenshots of Red Orchestra 2 I have to say the graphics doesn't look good IMO.
Gameplay is probably a bit too realistic for my taste and the player animations doesn't look natural enough for me... I'm leaning towards "From Dust" at the moment but then my bro came over and told me he pre-ordered Red Orchestra 2..lol >.<
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Hmm... Some of the animations, like when you turn from side to side, can be a little bit, well not clunky, but fast`? And for the graphics, i think they are great! The lighting is fantastic and the texture work seems solid!
-
Great! I will definitely be getting it then.
-
The Happy Swede Notebook Evangelist
Good, i would highly recommend that you do! Im going to pre-purchase it as soon as i have some moar money in my pocket :3
-
I'm in the same shoes. I've been anticipating for this game for a long while, but I fell for EA's trickery and pre-ordered Battlefield 3, because of the free downloadable game promotion they were offering to the Alpha players. I pretty much wasted money on pre-ordering a game months away from release to get a free copy of Middle of Honor and in all honesty I don't see myself ever installing it either. I'm still going to purchase RO2, but I know I'm going to feel terrible about it, cause I usually don't waste a lot on games.
Ironically, I know Red Orchestra 2 is going to be a true PC game compared to Battlefield 3. -
Apparently you can play the BETA now if you purchased the digital deluxe edition. Interested to see what you guys think.
-
Looks like a good game, should be worth the $.
-
The beta is out pre-maturely, because so many people were pushing and pressuring TWI to release it yesterday and no later. There are lots of bugs and very little optimization done and a lot of people are complaining about crashes and low framerates on top-notch systems.
That aside, for those who actually got into games in their RO2 betas, the feedback seems to be universal, that it's fun and brutal. The only people complaining about the gameplay are those who praise CoD:MW2 gameplay ("run and gun"). -
I've had RO1 since the first day years ago. The sensation of driving through wreckage in a Pz IV or Tiger with total strangers, communicate enemy position or a simple "run full speed straight ahead" as tank commander still give me the chill. I will wait for the price to drop then grab this bad boy.
-
Definitely get this game. I felt the same about you buying it full priced but after having played it, it's definitely worth the $40 it's being sold at on steam.
But I was a cd key shop owner so got it for basically 50% off that price.
-
It's kind of crashing and burning atm though (sort of like Brink), online player count dropped from ~10k during release, to about 1k ~ 3k (throughout the day night cycle) now and probably dropping more in the foreseeable future.
Then again, most of those who left are probably too used to more mainstream kind of FPS combat. Others left because of the bugs and might return in the future if the game gets fixed up better. -
Most of those who stayed with RO for years are hardened veterans and matured people (around 30 yrs old), the oldest that I knew was 51 year old. As Jerg has said above, this game does not appeal to the masses like mainstream FPS run and gun, but this game live for its short moments like a accurate artillery call that devastate an incoming infantry charge, a lucky shot or ansudden appearance of a lone Tiger ace crew who can wreck havoc to the enemy while their tanks get obliberated. Have a good laugh then call it a day, as my gaming bud used to say.
-
-
Yep. Apparently it's a well-known bug between ATI cards and Unreal Engine 3.
-
So is the gameplay living up to expectations?
-
can it be fixed??thx!
-
Ask Epic Games to stop taking money bags from Nvidia?
-
thats true man.......this is so sad..
