I've recently started to get bad performance in all my games. I play games like bf2, CSS, DODS, and COD4. I used to be able to play CSS and DODS at like 30-70 fps and bf2 was always playable. Now all I get in CSS and DODS is like 10-15 fps and bf2 stutters like crazy. I have no clue wat the problem is. I tried downloading new video drivers from a thread that I cant find anymore but those didnt work. I DLed the 3dmark05 and ran it but my results wont show up because one or more tests failed. I have no clue wat to do at all. I have a e1705, 7900gs, 1gb ram, 1.7ghz CPU and I've been able to play bf2 smoothly at medium to high settings. If some1 can help me it would be appreciated.

Have you defragmented your disk lately?
Are you running Vista? If so, have you updated it lately? -
Install new drivers. www.laptopvideo2go.com
-
I have not defragmented I'll try that
-
Which test failed? Fragmentation shouldn't result in failing 3D mark tests. Something else is at fault... Maybe your driver or DirectX itself (unlikely). Try completely removing your driver and reinstall the latest stable one.
-
Check your PowerMizer settings too... make sure you are not running in battery-saving mode...
-
almost all the tests failed especially the main ones

ScifiMike12 Drinking the good stuff
Don't ask why but try 3DMark06.
FYI, BF2 doesn't run "well" on 1GB of ram.
Edit: Since you have the same laptop as me, make sure your GPU isn't overheating. I use i8kfanGUI to cool mine down (along with the CPU). -
Have you checked your temps? It seems that this is a recent problem, so it suggests that you're overheating your components and their throttling down.
Also clean out your fans. -

Back up all your important files and reinstall Windows assuming you have the Windows setup disk or restore disk.

I am in the same problem i think i am having heat issues as my laptop gets very hot on the bottem right side. Can some1 give me a link to a good program that moniters temperture. I dont wanna mess wit the fans tho cuz i dont want to have to keep manually adjusting them. How do you clean the fans?

That is a huge drop in FPS.
Are you sure that nothing is running in the background? Try monitoring your CPU usage to make sure nothing is going on in the background.
Also you've gotta tell us your video card temperatures, download nTune from the nvidia website for an easy way to monitor temps. Your card might be overheating.
You might want to try system restore if you don't want to reinstall windows. Just keep going backwards until you find a restore point that doesn't have the problem.
Also reinstall the Dell video card drivers, or try laptopvideo2go.
Such a large drop in FPS seems quite abnormal. You might want to call Dell customer support. -
Thanks for all the replys but I found my problem. The whole time my power cord wasn't in all the way. It was enough to charge but I guess it wasn't enough power comin in for gaming. Everythings back to normal. I didn't notice this for like 3 days. But thx anyways

Yea I feel like an idiot

Happens to the best of us. I once spent 30 minutes working on a power supply until I found out that the surge protector wasn't turned on. And yes, I was getting paid.
