I have a Dell M1330 and have been affected by the problems noted here
with the defective NVidia geforce 8400m. My laptop is dead right now from these issues.

Does anyone know of a comparable GPU to replace the defective 8400m in a Dell M1330?

I'm talking with Dell about replacing it and though they have indicated they are going to replace it with something, they have not been able to tell me what they will replace it with. Appreciate any suggestions and help so that when they can tell me I can make sure something of comparable quality is being used.

    Thanks in advance.

You can't replace gpu's in laptops 99.9% of the time. Sorry to say that you can't replace your gpu in your laptop!

The issue with the Nvidia chips was the result of using materials that could not cope with the thermal stresses produced by the chip, not by the chip itself.

As the Halo guy above said, they won't upgrade the card; they'll replace it with the same one that you had before.
