got the demo to work on asus g1s with all medium settings and def. resolution. there was no lag and it was pretty surprising it could handle medium
by the way its 8600gt -
I have an 8400M GS, I can run crysis under lowest settings and resolution at +/-20 FPS
-
I play Crysis on my 256mb DDR2 8600m GT OCed lightly to 525/440, laptop in sig, with the following settings:
DX9 mode
1280x800
No AA/AF
Medium shadows/postprocessing/textures/another setting I can't recall atm
High everything else
I get 20-30 FPS which is very playable IMO I don't notice any stuttering or slowdowns, and would never have guessed the FPS was anything below 30 without checking.
In multiplayer I usually drop the resolution a bit to make sure that if some big graphically demanding event happens I won't get a little stutter that makes me miss a headshot or something. -
i run it at 1024x768, all low settings on my 8400 GS

MBP in Sig.
Everything medium at 1440x900.
I think it is a bit more playable at 1200x800, but I liked how it looked better at 1440x900.
I suppose it was running in DX10 mode considering I have Vista and an 8600m GT. That is, unless DX10 mode is left disabled on medium settings.
I'd bet the game would be much more playable if it were in a forced DX9 mode.
Anyone know how to get that to work? -
also, while on the subject of crysis i'm installing it now and like does it come with its own os or something? lol 12gb is a little much -
Isn't medium mode DX9 only? With everyone running out and buying a 8000 series gpu with their notebook for Crysis makes me wonder...
It seems like DX10 is all marketing if you don't have a 8800 series card. Without a powerful card it seems useless to bother with DX10.
gj Nvidia on the marketing with lower end DX10 cards... -
I was really sold on DX10 because of its "highly optimized" nature. I hope that part of it materializes some day. -
It's the samething as with DX9 to be honest, it's going to take a bit before that comes true, assuming it ever does. With the way everything's going these days, we'll end up with DX12 before DX10 ever even mattered.
And guess I'm a little late to the party, but mostly Med with some Lows, 1280x800 with my T7100, 3GB, 8600mGT 512mb. I could run it higher maybe, but on the laptop I'd prefer the higher FPS over the looks, as that's what my desktop is for -
I'm using the 169.04 drivers right now, haven't decided if it's worth it to get the .09 ones yet.
Ya, I am also pretty disappointed that dx10 isn't more efficient yet, but if it does reach that level where it is a lot more efficient than dx9 then that means my 8600m GT will seem a lot more powerful than it does already XD
