    Hello chaps,

Mavke, the maintainer of MVKTech, has asked me to launch a request. As you may know, they produce the highly valued "nBitor" tool, which is indispensable for all your over- and underclocks and tweaks of various sorts. To be able to keep supporting the latest generations of vid cards, the beast needs to be fed.

Which is why he'd like you folks to send in any and all vBios files you have (nVidia off course). While he's interested in any and all for his database, he's in dire need of the latest and greatest, more precisely:

    - GeForce 305M
    - GeForce 310M
    - GeForce 315M
    - GeForce 320M
    - GeForce GT 325M
    - GeForce GT 330M
    - GeForce GT 335M
    - GeForce 410M
    - GeForce GT 415M
    - GeForce GT 420M
    - GeForce GT 425M
    - GeForce GT 435M
    - GeForce GT 445M
    - GeForce GTX 485M
    - GeForce GT 520M
    - GeForce GT 525M
    - GeForce GT 540M
    - GeForce GT 550M
    - GeForce GT 555M

It would be awesome if you guys could share and contribute. You can send it in directly to him (his website should give you details on that), or you can PM them to me, or you can post them in this thread and I'll harvest them. REP +1 for all who do ;)

Sorry man, I'd love to help, but I don't think you are in need of a GTX260M vBIOS.

A lot of these cards are somewhat rare... and not all people read this section, maybe the best thing would be to post a thread in each manufacturer subforum which makes models with these cards... just a thought.

I'm sure you'll find a couple of 485m owners at the clevo forum, gt445m and 540m should also be around on the Dell subforum or wherever...

Edit: Also PM may be an option, a lot of people have their specs in the signature so if you happen to come across a post with someone who has such a system you can easily contact him. I'm afraid a lot of people don't regularly check this section.

You might also ask a mod to change the title. Something more like "Please help make nBitor better by sending in your vBios!" Otherwise people will just gloss over it.

Maybe provide a link and how to get the vBIOS too. I have the GTX 485m and would gladly share.

I ran NiBiTor 6.01 and did a "read BIOS" and "Select Device" and it gave me a "Cant start driver: 1275" error.

edit: just used GPU-Z and attached to this post.

You should be able to do it with GPU-Z. Just click on the little icon on the right end of the "BIOS Version" line.

I've already shared my vBios on my 460m and have been emailing him on the lack of voltages in the read bios. Hopefully someone can figure something out to open those voltage tables :( Let me know if you'd like me to repost it as the Dell/Alienware vBios is different than the rest of the 460m's.

Is there any way we can post this on every forum?

Like on the announcement, so that everyone can see this. I'm pretty sure he will have vBIOS of all those cards in no time.

You should upload it here in a zip for other users.

He did it for the 470m. I have the modded bios file he made which someone successfully used to overclock higher.
I have the file if you want it, but I don't have an original 470m vBIOS so I can't do a comparison.

In general if he has the voltage in the right section, all you need to do is increase the hex bits to increase the voltage. Also, the voltage values don't tend to differ (although across architectures or generations they might) so off the top of my head, try "69" for 1.05v (if your ready to get down and dirty) ;)

I will later tonight. I know he did on the 470m, but for some reason there is absolutely no information in the vBios on voltages at all for any of the 460m's. He's analyzed the vbios from multiple vendors(Dell, Asus, Clevo, etc) and not one of them has anything related to the voltages. He said it has him very confused because it's the only card he has run accross that has nothing on voltages at all.

Attached are the vBIOSes for the 525M and 540M, from the 2nd gen Dell XPS15.

    Dell_vBIOS_Nvidia_525_540.7z

And here is the 420M and 435M from the 1st gen XPS15.

    http://www.mediafire.com/?2ldkadaba9vjs98

I've received many requests to OC these, but NiBiTor doesn't work for them yet. I know how to hex mod ATI vBIOSes manually, but not Nvidia ones (I assume the process is similar, but I don't have the time to do the research). Any help on getting these supported in the next version would be greatly appreciated.

For most laptops, the vBIOS is built into the system BIOS, so you can't extract it runtime with most desktop tools. What you'd have to do is unpack the BIOS file from an update you download from the manufacturer. To unpack it, first determine what type of BIOS is is (Phoenix/Insyde/AMI/Award/etc), and download the appropriate SLIC tool from the list of stickies here: MDL Projects and Applications

When you open the BIOS file with the tool, it will create a "Dump" directory. Sort the contents by file size. The vBIOSes are usually 50-75kb in size, so open up each of the files in that range with Notepad or a hex editor. The vBIOS files should say very clearly "Nvidia" or "ATI" within the first few lines of the file. Note that each BIOS is generally good for several laptops, or at least several different GPUs for the same laptop, so there will almost always be at least 2-3 of them in the Dump directory. I'd suggest posting all of them.

Except his is not integrated with the BIOS. The 485M is a MXM standalone card that has its own vBIOS independent from the BIOS.

True, I didn't catch that, MXM should be readable. I should probably slow down and read the entire post, lol. My guide would work for Tunay though.

If you post it I can extract the vBIOS from it, but I've had trouble flashing modded AMI BIOSes. On my desktop, with has an ASUS/AMI motherboard, just a very simple mod bricked the board (though I was able to recover).

So I'd be able to post the 320M for others, but I wouldn't be able to OC/mod it for you.

    Never mind my P.M. :D

    Why MSI?

by the way, it is GT 320M -.-'

Another thing; do not mix this card up with the 320M GT Apple uses in their laptops, those are diffrent, and my GT 320M is more powerfull.

The BIOS unpacking tool detected it as MSI. It's not always right, and I didn't know for sure, so I just went with it. It's not really important though.

I just wanted to say thank you already for taking this request up and getting us these notebook graphics card BIOS images. Keep these coming as we will be adding these on a next version of NiBiTor. I would say the more the better, even if you think your card is already supported, doesn't matter all is welcome as you never know that we find something new to unlock for tweaking. Thank you again! :)
