Would you guys say that Resident Evil 5 was ported pretty well?

I have a lowly 9300m GS, and I don't game much on my Vaio as its mostly for school work, and I have to say COD4 + Yitch configuration gives me an average of 55fps when playing either single or multiplayer modes.

With the settings turned all the way down, I'm only able to get an average of 29fps on Resident Evil 5...are there any yitch type configuration I can apply to get perhaps an average of 35-40fps?

    Here's my config file

    config.ini (Documents/CAPCOM/RESIDENT EVIL 5)

I was thinking about changing JobThread=1 to 2 and maybe TextureFilter=TRILINEAR to BILINEAR

It's ported extremely well, but it's still graphically advanced enough to choke on lower end GPUs such as yours.

You should try turning the TextureFilter completely off.

With your gpu, you can't get 35-40 fps. And your P9700 won't help you since this game isn't cpu demanding at all. And yeah this game is ported very well. Pretty impressive.

So I tried changing TextureFilter to either OFF or BILINEAR, and both on reboot change the setting to ANISOTROPIC16X. Guess I'm stuck with TRILINEAR.

    well, i guess I'm averaging 29.6fps on a variable benchmark isn't too bad then I guess...oh well

I do have a question if anyone knows the answer, but is there a built in console command for me to display the FPS on screen? I dont want to use FRAPS or RIVATUNER to do because it might slow the system down with it running in the background, but if I can do it within the game, that would be awesome.

If you're looking to get more fps, then change the resolution to 720x480 or 640x480, it wont give you the options in the game menus but from the config file it will still work.

The benchdemo doesn't like my HD3650 either.

I'm just gonna play it on my desktop instead :\

I tried that, it gave me an average of 40fps! But I can't see anything while i'm playing...LOL

I have to say that the game runs MUCH better then what the benchmark predict me at, I benchmark demo said I would be able to play at 12fps, but the actual game benchmark gave me 29.7

640x480 is legit old school TV resolution. Highly recommend.

Or try 640x360 or 960x540 to get the 16:9 aspect ratio.

You could also change Job thread to 2 since you have DualCore, also maybe turn off HDR? lol, may as well go play tetris...

if you can turn off hdr that will give you at least 7 more frames/sec (my guess)

FRAPS isn't demanding at all, so it won't cause any slowdowns.

Yes, the FRAPS fps display uses basically zero GPU resources. Only the actual recording of game footage greatly saps your performance.

I just like to point out that Resident Evil 5 was NOT a port! Capcom makes their games on PC first then ports them to consoles. They just release the PC version much latter.

    RE4? RE3? I think it's a port.

I'm about to pick up this game myself. By tradition, all the games I fire up on my laptop (which, wow, almost the same as the OP's config) I turn off shadows (can it be turned off in RE5?) I reduce reflections, but I keep the HDR so at least it looks next-gen. Also I reduce the tex quality and all. The lowest fps I am getting is with GTA IV with about 22fps max and 14 min. So I guess that would make RE5 go maybe up to 35, and then 29 lowest, just like yours. Unless I overclock the card, I don't think it would hit up to 40.
