Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

The only other post I could find of this game was here but sadly it is locked and to be honest this game is so bad I didn't really want to use up NBR bandwidth posting a new thread, but if it saves you all money..

Seeing as I just got to play it I thought I would give you my view after only 30 minutes before I gave up and uninstalled the game.

Simply it is not Resident Evil. It is not as Resident 5 was to Resident 4 in that they did not improve on how great Resident Evil 4 was it is a whole new kind of awful, call it a left for dead spin off but worse.

Firstly it is Co-op based but you can play offline and choose 3 fully kitted out merceneries to run with you with all different types of classes, weapons and equipment which sings survival horror.... It is so easy its funny even before you start the game. If you are expecting any type of story that relates to the Umbrella -> T-Virus -> Zombies expect mind drumming awfulness. Should you go for Co-op it is no different to the AI offline play just that you have 3 other people with you which should be fun right? Yes well....its not.

They have gone towards the whole find ammo on the floor everywhere you go it is unlimited without even trying, get credits by killing and finding it stashed amazingly in your path and buy weapons to kill more bad guys conveniently lined up in your path, similiar to sooooo many other games like it.

Gone are the days of scrounging for a couple of magnum rounds in a mansion to kill a snake that would bite your head off if you did not run after every shot and still get poisoned...

Gone are the days of finding film and running through a police station scared out of your witts just trying to get to the red room to develop and see what the images show...

Save your money do not even consider this game!

How it runs:

On my Clevo sig maxed out 1080p I see an easy 90fps and on my M11x native 768P a good 40-50fps which confirms how poor the graphics are, I would say they are similiar to Dead Space 2 but slightly worse as there is no atmosphere like you get with that awesome game.

Pros:

Lots of customisation
Lots of weapons and items
Co-op and multiplayer
It is called Resident Evil

Cons:

Tedious and boring after only 20-30 minutes
No story or any type of campaign that you could consider playing
Characters are just made up and uninteresting
A rip off from Left 4 Dead
Poor Graphics
Not a survival horror

3/10. For effort if anything.

I would say 2/10 but at the worry of being called a troll I thought I would be fair.

I been resident evil fans since resident evil's director cut (Re1)

Been played Resident Evil 0 , 1 , 2 , 3 , 4 ,5 , Choronical dark side , Code Veronica..etc , except the 3Ds's Resident Evil.

Is it really not that worth? I been waiting this game quite awhile , after seen this post , I'm really disappointed.

 

Its shocking. Resident Evil made me the axe wielding maniac I am today.

This did nothing for my ManRage.

P.s My favorite remains the Resident Evil 1 remake on Gamecube. Just superb.

 

My favorite is Code Veronica , start from re4 , all those gameplay become 3rd person shooting , we already have too much 3rd person shooting games...lost planet mass effect , crysis , dead space.. dead space 2 is the best so far

 

Thank you for the heads up. I saw it on steam and was very tempted to buy it, but you just saved me 49 dollars

 

I both this game for 360 1st day of release and I stopped playing after 30 minutes

 

Sad part is this game sold 1 million copies and has lots of game breaking issues S6 refuses to patch, pointing the finger at Capcom. Short campaign of which the spec ops DLC which was promised to be free as a supplement is actually charged for... ah I don't even want to get started.

TL;DR - Its a modern Capcom product. Nuff said there.

 

Hahaha thanls for saving me the trouble. I guess I'll just wait for Re6 for my next RE game

 

After 5hour gameplay , those bot are really dumb....this will be interesting in co-op mode. I noticed all of the stories are related in re2 , re3. Its not a rip off from L4D , L4D is fps , but its like lost planet which by capcom too.

Sadly there is no headshot in this game...anyways I'll buy this game for co-op.

I played 4eyes , she can control zombie and fool around lol.

 

I don't buy the "spin off" Resident Evil games but I was tempted with this one...thanks for the heads up. I guess I'll keep waiting on RE6

Dead Space 2 corpses crossed with Resident Evil 2 graphics

 

I've been at a loss as to whether I would buy this or just wait for RE6. After reading this thread, I guess I have to say that I'm glad I thought it out. Wouldn't want' to waste money on crap.

 

IGN and Gamespot both gave this game a 4/10.

 

I tried it too, sucks. This being an RE game, you'd think your first fight would be against zombies.

 

Playing Co-Op is actually not bad at all. Its funny specially when someone gets lost and watching other player being eaten by zombies
But playing it alone with those AI are really boring.
Another problem is it takes so much time waiting for player matching.
