...forced to play in software rendering mode for any kind of decent performance. Since mipmapping/trilinear filtering isn't offered in software mode I changed most(not all) of the textures in Dust 1 & 2 and the result is pretty good imo :D (check out the attatchements)

All you do is unzip and copy the cs_dust.wad file into your 'cstrike' folder usually located in "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\STEAMID\counter-strike\cstrike" and you are done. There is no VAC penalty for using modified wads and it's completely discreet anyway so enjoy :)

I cant seem to post links so copy this into your address bar to get the file

i run normal CSS with average 40 FPS 1024x768 on Dust, so i dont think i need it for my x3100

Edit: I thought it was CSS not CS. if its CS than its cool cuz my FPS there is bad

Make sure you select software mode in options for max performance :D because software rendering usues the CPU as the graphics processor you will be better off shutting down as many unneeded programs as you can before opening CS.

Just to see what performance I could get out of my celeron I downloaded a software OpenGL driver and let me tell you the celery literally went toe to toe with the x3100 in CS, the frames were generally a bit lower but there was no massive drops making it almost playable :D I the cpu would be no match in shader games but it's still pretty funny seeing the CPU take on the GPU

Try playing with default then :p the picture is too noisy for me making it harder to distinguish players from the scenery

i believe you. the noise might be distracting. the still shot looks more drab but i could see how it could improve the motion gameplay experience.

of course, i wouldn't know, i run source with vsync on and 4xaa 8xaf ;)
