    Hi there!

First of all, I hope I'm posting this issue on the correct place!
Please let me know if I'm wrong!

    The issue:
My screen resolution changes every time I boot or restart my laptop!
The resolution is set to 1440x900 (wich is the normal behaviour) and suddently after more or less 15 seconds it changes automatically to 800x600 wich is the lowest possible setting!
I then set it back to 1440x900, but the odd process repeats itself every time I restart or boot the laptop!

Things I did on the day this issue appeared:
    - installed Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 and the required Directx "update" bundled with the game
    - installed Logitech Gaming Software (drivers for PC gamepad)
    - installed Fraps

    Possible solutions I've already tried:
    - reinstall nvidia driver

I cannot find any logical explanation for this problem!
Would someone please help me find a solution for this annoying issue?
What could be changing the screen resolution?

    Thanks for your help!

    Laptop Specs:
    HP dv9575ep
    NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS

    Yeh ,
I'm having that same issue right now.
    nvidia 8400gs
    After I installed F.E.A.R.
    and new drivers
My lappy started to do it.
This morning I uninstalled the nvidia drivers.
    and reinstalled.
It restarted in the normal resolution. (1280x800 for me)
But that was one restart and not trying any games or programs.
So I have to do more test.
Not sure if the uninstall help.
Let you know when I can.

I've once having this problem too when i got my new laptop. Of course with other problems too like windows boot up too slow and sometime hangs. The screen flickering periodically and resolution changes from 1200x800 to 800x600. The guy told me it could be my 8600GT card's bad. So i got a new replacement.

Now i have a new issue that is sometimes my colour settings automatically changes to Windows Vista Basic mode that is only 16-bit and i have to change it back to 32-bit myself.
