Let's take gta 4 for example. I play the game in 1024x720. After i'm done playing, i quit the game, turn off the notebook, everything is good. Next time i turn it off, the notebook resolution is set to 1024x720. If i would play the game in 800x600, same story. Im kinda tired of re-arranging my icons all the time, is there any solution to prevent this?

That's weird, try updating your video drivers...

You're telling me that after you play a game and you turn it back on later, the actual desktop resolution is changed?

I don't change my notebook resolution according to the game's one, it stays 1280x800, but after i play a game in different res it changes completely, but only after i restart the notebook. Let's say im playing farcry 2 on 960x600, im bored and i quit it, the desktop resolution is still the native one. But after i restart the notebook, the res on desktop is 960x600. Happens everytime, and i have to change the icons again.

That's very unusual. I've never seen that happen before. Have you used different GPU drivers?

That is very odd, but it wouldn't be the first very odd thing I've heard or seen a HP doing. Have you checked to see if it is model specific? HP support is a long shot, but they might have something for you.

Assuming you use Vista; if not.. i dunno

Im very very uncertain if this with help at all or even has anything to do with it, but back in my Vista days, my Vista sometimes changed resolution at random times, like when the screen had been down (off) and then turned on again.

I think it was when i disabled the TMM service, that it stopped.

Took this from the NBR Vista Tips and Tweaks guide.

    Hmm... Give it a shot?
