Hey guys. First time poster here, but I was reading around here about the X3100, unfortunately after I bought it. I received my HP dv9500t yesterday, and today I tried to run Medieval II: Total War, and it wouldnt run well at all. It was all staggery and not smooth and virtually unplayable. Even on the lowest settings. I assume this is because of the X3100 card, correct? I just returned the laptop and now I'm gonna use the Nvidia 8600 card. That should resolve my problem and make the game run great, correct? Did I make the right move to correct my issue?

I thought the laptop would run games great since it's fast in every aspect. But that new card should make all the difference, right? Thanks guys.

Yes, you made a very good move especially because you are a gamer.

The problem with the x3100 is that it is an integrated graphics card and integrated graphics deliver a crippled gaming experience. I think the only good thing about them is that they consume less power and don't heat up your notebook as much.

And yes, even if you have 4GB of ram, the fastest processor possible, but have an integrated gfx card, you will hate gaming on that machine. The 8600M, GS or GT, will definitely be fine for you. You made a good decision.
