Ive been playing Demigod for awhile now and thought Id put my 2 cents in about the game. Note: I have not played online mode since the .net is too slow here. I do believe a big part of the game is online...but the only difference about playing online is that youre playing with actual people and not computers.

First off, its a fantastic "expansion" to DoTA. This being said, it has a lot wider of situations you can pull off. And there are not items that you create yourself. The maps are set up in sort of the same way as DoTA where you can either go mid, left, or right. There are not NPCs that stand around in different places on the map, instead you earn xp off of killing the other teams minions, capturing flags, and of course, killing other demigods.

The graphics are amazing for an RTS. Especially for comparing it to DoTA. I play it on max settings at 1920x1200 and it looks great.

Now about the characters. You can choose between 8 demigods. If you dont know what a demigod is, it is a half god basically. There are 2 different sides you can choose from "the assassins and the generals." Each demigod has its own set of talents that you can choose from, and like in DoTA you can max up to lvl 20. There are a lot more than 20 skills you can learn however. So you have to choose wisely. Some of the demigods can have their own army and you can buy 3 different kinds of minions, all of which have 4 different levels that cost more, but offer more armor and power.

Every time you start a new game, you choose an item which requires "skill points" that are earned for each game you compete and finish. Also, there are different challenges for each demigod and by completing those, you earn skill points. Once you finish buying all the "skill point" items, another bracket will open to buy more skill items based on if youre an assassin or general.

Ive played every demigod, and I cant really decide on a favorite because theyre all fun to play. You can decide which is the best for you!

I would be pleased to give the game a 9/10.

If you have any questions about the game feel free to ask. ;)

    Nice review.

Online matches are the main feature of this game, playing aginst the bots will get boring after a while. Not to mention there are only 8 maps overall which is a big dissapointment.
Metascore is 76/100 - which is surprisngly good for a game what was unplayable for the first month when it was released. Now it's fixed. :]

Yes. I have a question....what is your opinion of the game? In other words, please provide an objective review as your thread title suggests. Or change title to read " Recap of Demigod".

    Akuma is correct.

He did state his opinion. If you read it, he says it has amazing graphics and is fun to play (those are his opinions).

:) Thanks for the question Signal, and to answer it...I think it is an excellent expansion to DoTA. So in which case, if you loved to play DoTA every night with your friends, this is a newer alternative that will keep you going. You might have to upgrade your graphics card if you still have a GeForce 4 MX 64mb card.

It is enjoyable offline, so I assume it has got to be 10x more enjoyable online. I cannot access the online mode, since my .net is so slow here. But I am practicing, so when I get back home in 1 month, Ill slaughter all. ;x

I apologize, after all it is my first. I just thought Id through something about demigod since I have not seen much about it in the forums. I know it is short, but I dont like to waste peoples time so I try to be as brief as possible.

Also, the game was unplayable the first month because of pirates stealing the game. You dont need a cd to play. So you can blame that on thiefs.

Again, it is quite enjoyable offline IMO. You can choose from 4 difficulties: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Nightmare. Easy and Normal are pretty much the same, except you start out with extra cash and level a little quicker. Now, when you start playin hard, you have to actually know what youre doing. And Nightmare is, well...its a nightmare in offline because you cant coordinate with teamates and such.

With that said, I believe the only part that sucks about playing offline mode would be that you arent playing with an actual team. So you cant tell someone to go here and attack this, while you go there and attack that.

You say 8 maps is a big dissapointment, I prefer to differ. It doesnt matter what color the ground is because after I finish the enemy it is always stained red with blood.

uhm max lvl in DotA is 25.

I think saying its an expansion to DotA its a lot. Its an AoS (Aeon of Strife) game sure (which they are a lot) but not a DotA expansion, it does misses key elements that make DotA what it is.

But it does look fun and worth trying.

Still a true DotA "continuation" would be sweet. Warcraft3 its an old game and will die someday and the port to SC2 may be difficult (mainly cause of the aura system which dota relies heavily on) so a standalone DotA game would be a hit (well at least I would play it :p)

oh and DotA its nowhere near been enjoyable offline/singleplayer/ai_map/bots its meant to be a multiplayer experience I guess the same goes for Demigod so u should add the online part of the review aswell.

No matter how good AI is it will never match a skilled human that enjoys a playing a game, this apllies in DotA, Demigod and any other game i think. ;)

Yep...unless its different online, offline max level is 20. Trust me, Ive been playing for awhile.

It is an expansion in a sense that it is the same type of game... chris taylor said it himself. They made the game from dota.

And DoTA is meant for online play no matter what. I played dota for too long... the same does not apply to Demigod. Or else I WOULDNT BE PLAYING IT!...

And we all know about AI...but maybe you should try to play nightmare before you talk about "skill" because it has nothing to do with skill. It has to do with communication with your team.

For those of us new to the game/designer.... what's DotA?

(just got Demigod, but haven't played much yet. Actually thought it was more of a strategy than a RTS, so not sure I'll like it, but going to give it a shot...)

    Your guess is correct!

DoTA is a great and fun game to play if you have internet and WC3. It helps to have a good .net speed or else the leaders will kick you because if one person drops from the game, its pretty much over and everyone leaves.
