Game Review - Call of Duty: World at War
I have had the privilege to play the beta version of the new Call of Duty series game: World at War, a WWII first person shooter. This beta test only allows only the online multiplayer game to be played, while also only allowing three different maps to choose from. Despite this, I feel this beta version gives trial users a very good representation of how the final product will play.
I own Call of Duty 1, the multiplayer of Call of Duty 2, and have played COD4, so I jumped at the opportunity to play the next game in the sequence. I was really excited. Many people are apprehensive about this game since it was developed by Treyarch, the company that produced the only Call of Duty game to fail, COD3. But after a little research, I found out that this game was built using the Call of Duty 4 engine, the engine developed by Infinity Ward who has produced all the successful Call of Duty games. This put my apprehensions at ease knowing that Treyarch did not go off on their own direction.
Gameplay
I give the gameplay a high 9/10. This game is just like COD4, but with WW2 weapons. There are ranks and unlocks, so the better you are, the high rank and better weapons you will attain. There is a single player campaign, as well as the usual multiplayer online mode. A new addition to the modes is an online cooperative mode, meaning four players can join together to go through the campaign. This is a first for the Call of Duty series games, and this makes me really excited.
Graphics
9/10. The graphics in this game are phenomenal. I am currently playing this game on max settings with no AA (anti-aliasing). My graphics card is a Geforce 7600. With my card, which is a middle-of-the-road card, I really enjoy playing this game. There is no stutter or lag, which makes me exceptionally happy.
Game types
7/10. The online game types are the typical war game modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Headquarters and Capture the Flag. A new mode is also introduced called War.
Overall
9/10. This is a great game; Ill definitely get this game once it comes out. My only negative comment is that both Allies and Axis forces start off with the same weapon choices, but you can unlock new weapons once you have killed a few tangos.
This game is scheduled to be release on November 11. I would recommend this game to all first person shooter lovers. **Warning** This game is rated M for blood and gore, intense violence and strong language.

Awesome review ! Thanks for all the info. But I heard ppl playing Multiplayer talking about attack dogs ? Can you unleash dogs on your opponents online ?

Thanks for the kind words
.
You are right BWHXEON. It's pretty hard to get dogs though! It's 7 kills for dogs and 9 for arty if i'm correct. You may be right, it's one of those numberrs. -
It's actually 3 kills for a recon plane, 5 kills for artillery strike, and 7 kills for attack dogs.
-
sounds awesome ! Now I just have to decide to get this or Left 4 Dead X_X

I actually preferred COD4 by a rather significant margin. I didn't find anything special about this game...just a WW2 knock off of COD4. I'm tired of the WW2 era though so it makes sense that I feel that way.

I'm cheesed by the fact that I need 2 shots with a bolt-action rifle to kill someone in normal mode! Even with stopping power! Its a little better in HC mode only needing 1 shot but only when you use stopping power...I mean come on! This makes them more or less useless as all the semi-autos are also 2 hit kill. Remember the good old days when a guy could just pick-up a bolt-action rifle and start destroying everyone? Those were they days!

depends where in the chest. the neck and the collar bone area is a one shot kill. with stopping power its the ribs and above, otherwise it will take two shot( stomach, limbs) also if it was a longer range it will take two shots.
