With Starcraft 2 coming out, I decided to go out and buy the "Starcraft Battlechest" since I couldn't find my original CD's (of which I've since found after buying the Battlechest - oh well).

I forgot how challenging the AI can be. You really have to know your stuff to counter anything that comes your way, and to really make good use of your resources.

This game is great. Now I'm going to get drawn back into it, just great  . Despite the antiquated graphics, it at least runs on any machine you put it on, and with the "scloader2b" mod you can run it in a window!

I just wish Starcraft had a "difficulty" slider because I'm getting my ass handed to me now that I am revisiting it in custom skirmishes... lol

My friend (korean) had a mod that made the computer practically impossible (he couldn't beat it, and he was good at the game)

I'm at work right now and my internet access to anything game related is blocked. But just do a google for "scloader2b" and have fun. It even will eliminate the need for a CD check. Of course with the new patch you don't need it anyhow.

Just install the scloader as directed.

Create a shortcut to scloader2b.exe. Right click shortcut, select properties, and in the "Target" field after the file path and filename (i.e. c:\starcraft\scloader2b.exe) put the tag: -xmod wmode.xmod

The different window options weren't easy to find, don't even think its in the readme:

Alt-F1 locks the cursor in the window (for mouse scrolling at screen edges)
    Alt-F10 allows moving the window
Alt-F11 keeps window on top always

Nice little mod. Except running at 1920x1200 at home or 1280x1024 at work the 640x480 window is a little small. I didn't see an option to scale the window either.

Thanks for the info, I found it. About the patvh for no-CD (from Blizzard), I followed their instructions but it didn't worked for me, have you tried it? Do you need to change anything after re-naming the install.exe?

    Thanks.

For no CD, make sure you copy your install.exe file from your CD to your main Starcraft directory and then rename it to "BroodWar.mpq". Or if you aren't using the Brood War expansion just rename install.exe to "StarCraft.mpq"
