I used to be a big strategy game player, since I got hooked on the first Age of Empires years ago. With my ultra portable notebook, intense gaming is out, but I still have a taste for a good strategy romp every now and again. The biggest issue is finding an hour or more to play. Anyway, I was at Sam's this weekend and saw Rise of Nations for less than $25. I picked it up, played it two hours yesterday, and am now cursing myself. I know it's been out for a while, there's even an expansion pack, but the game is really very good. If you like strategy, go for it. Runs perfectly on my PM 1.0 with 1GB RAM.

yeah, I agree with several points you made:
1) RON rocks
2) RTS games are great games that have very low requirements and provide hours of fun []

I also have RON and its expansion, and I love it! I've already done many 3-way games with friends over LAN, and it is fun! We love just building up huge armies with the most population possible (Be Bantu, build Colussus wonder, have a merchant get the rare resource Peacocks) and bringing them together for a massive battle. I am also an RTS lover, I have Warcraft III and the expansion, Starcraft and its expansion, all the Age Of Empire games and expansions, and more! RTS rules!
Good things come in small packages. -
I've been getting into RTS games a little more myself. They are one of the perfect genres for laptops in that most games aren't too intensive to a point where it affects performance and they're very easy to pause/save and pick up where you left off later. My other favorite genre are simulations, but the only one I have on my v505 is SimCity 4. Anything more involved like Flight Simulator is reserved for the desktop machine. I've been on a big RTS kick lately so in addition to C&C: Generals (and expansion) and Rise of Nations (and expansion), I've also added Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology, Tropico, and Civilization 3 (and expansions). I think I'll be busy for a while...
