I was over at ign and saw the review for Risen. I hadn't heard of the game but saw it was made by the same people as Gothic. Went to Steam and just downloaded the demo and so far it is pretty fun.

I'm using the default control scheme and it seems to control much more like a console game than other pc rpg's like The Witcher, I'm sure it can be changed but I like it. So far combat is kind of hack and slash but then again I haven't progressed far enough in the game to see much. One nitpick I have noticed so far is that once you enter dialogue with a person you can't click to get out of it but have to listen to the voice-acting, I prefer to read and not listen but again not a big deal.

I can't fairly judge the game yet because I have only played for 30mins because I am having a texture issue atm (typing this while my new driver is downloading) but if there are any fans of open world rpg's do yourself a favor and download the free demo.

Performance wise I have the game maxed except for shadow's (at medium) and I am getting between 20-32fps, I know its not that great but before I cut on fraps I never noticed any lag and thought it was running much faster. Also it may run better once I get a driver that doesn't bug out, its not the greatest looking game but it is more than serviceable (pic attached is a little ugly, its the damn compression when changing from fraps giant filesize).

Also is there anyone that has played more than me and would like to chime in?
