I have been using RivaTuner 2.06 for the last few weeks on my m1710 successfully, more or less. Although I never got it to launch on startup despite having checked the box to have it do so, I could start it up after turning on my notebook and load my settings.
For some reason my notebook thinks the default frequencies are 641/810, which is causing a massive overheating issue. I used RivaTuner to clock my GPU back down to the standard settings, but for some reason, out of the blue, RivaTurner refuses to allow me to set the GPU frequencies anymore. I can not detect settings (I click detect and nothing happens) and if I try to reboot, it puts me back to square one since it does not automatically launch or realize that I have just restarted.
How do I fix this? Is there a way to set GPU frequencies back to stock settings for good with out using RivaTuner? Could it be my current drivers (167.45)?

Since you are having overheating issues, you need to manually clean out the vents and fans... of dust.
Open up the panels to get close to the fans and vents, use a flashlight to see through the vents... if you see nothing (which I bet you will), then that means that the dust had clogged it up pretty good.
Use compressed air and Q-tips to clean it out.
If needed, re-apply thermal compound (Arctic Silver) for your GPU. -
So the overheating issues have nothing to do with the fact that my card uses default frequencies (641/810) which are significantly higher than what it is rated for (575/700)?
I have already taken this notebook apart once to clean only to find very little dust. I am praying the undesired overclock is causing the problems otherwise I am screwed.
