You got to be kidding me.

I’m a dumb azz for not researching this insanity to play a game. Max Pane 3 was $15 bucks on Steam last night so thinking of Max Pane 1, I bought it on impulse.

Game is alright. But how in the world do people put up with the stupid “crews” and login requirements to play a game? This is why I buy through STEAM..to avoid this type of garbage.

I’m asking for refund from STEAM as I found out I cannot play unless logged in. No offline mode. I must have really misunderstood that online was needed for registration, not ALL the time. Sorry if all this has been beat to death, I felt better to add forty more.

    Cheers

ROFL @ this is why I buy from Steam... Steam is not a replacement for the online features, it's just a digital distribution system. It's no better than Origin or any other digital distribution. Steam just has bigger sales, great prices etc.

It's annoying, but get used to it. Rockstar has their social media crap, so does EA, so does Activision, so does Microsoft, just about everyone does, if they don't, they will. Heck even Steam is one. You are angry about Social Club even though Steam is nearly the same as Social Club. Plus it logs in auto and you don't have to use it, just play the game. We can complain all we want, but doesn't matter, all games will have some sort of social junk built in now.

    Hangs head, I know.

I'ts just I only want to deal with just one evil at a time. The loss of not being to play offline sort of defeats any of the above. I'm just snarked at myself for not catching this thru the quick reviews. At least this is just a $15 lesson :)

Yes, when I tried this I got black screen and had to force quit. You got it to work? This is how it should work after first loggin from on screen prompts.

I can only play SP games due to WebNonsense at work during breaks. I play Skyrim weeks at a time without having to go online mode.

    Thx

I had the same experience with Arkham City. It was very complicated and annoying just to install the game, then after signing up for new hotmail account, GFWL account and something else, I finally had it installed, and I could play but I couldn't save unless I signed up for yet another account, even though I was already logged in to Steam the entire time, they wanted me to register for some kind of Microsoft Xbox gamer club something or other. I just gave up and uninstalled the game, it was a waste.

Thanks for the heads up. I had used GFWL long ago but it was tame buy your latest account. I had all I can stand with the LOL, "social junk" for games. I'm only one guy but plan to do my homework before any more impulse buys.

    Cheers

Yeah, you can definitely play offline. That would be ridiculous if you couldn't.

I recently started playing LA Noire (first Social Club game for me) and found that Social Club doesn't successfully check for updates unless I'm connected via a US-based VPN server. It was fun to look at how many women had been tied to railroad tracks around the world on my brother's Xbox copy of Red Dead Redemption a year and a half ago, but I'm not much of a Social Club fan lately myself. As far as I can tell, the Default profile I'm running on can run on- or offline, but I have to be online for the update checker when I start the game up.
