say, aren't you busy becoming a doctor? well, I'll just assume that this game must be really good if it's part of your limited free time.

Amazon reviewers seem to love it too, lots of 5 star ratings:

I just bought rise of nations + thrones and patriots expansion a couple weeks ago to quell my strategy needs on this new machine. Are you saying I need to buy this game too? Is it really that much better? [} :)]

I say phooey, rise of nations give you not just medieval roman stuff but aircraft carriers and tanks if you want. /turns back [^]

They are both excellent games, don't get me wrong. But Total War is quite amazing. I personally love the 3D aspect of the battles. Quite possibly one of the best games I have ever played.

My dad is a cardiologist. What nesbo said about 110 hour work weeks is totally true. As a perk they wake you up in the middle of the night to ask you stupid questions.
Anyway, Ya, I played the Rome: Total War demo, and it is awesome. It definitely left me wanting more. I'm gonna purchase it in a short while, definitely.

My brother has it and he loves it.Another good game is Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War. It's actually a cross of role playing and RTS. You build a war civ, then go to battle, but at battle, you can become a hero, which is the battle commander, and actually fight withhim using bows and arrows and awesome old time weapons. So it's a bit of both, i love it.

Yes, R:TW is awesome game. I played it about a year ago, and still lies on my desk, but have no HDD free space to install it. There are two big things in game: war and management (cities, army). If you are able to balance between that two factors, you are the winner. The both of it are the same important and that is (beside graphics and war-feeling) the best thing in this game, because if you are only battle oriented, your empire will fall quickly.

buy it, Medieval II: Total War and the Kingdons expansion together. If you're a History and strategy fan you got enough gaming for the rest of you life.

RTW is definitely amongst one of the best strategy games because it successfully combines turn-based and real time strategy with almost all possible factors of warfare put in. I really want to see a R:TW 2. The graphics is a bit dated.

I hated Medieval 2 Total For for the lack of unit variation.

    Lucky bastard. :D

Half Life 2 and Rome:Total War are two of the finest games to have come out, and they both came out in 2004. A great year for gaming history.

Don't forget that Empire: Total War is also coming, with the timeline in the XVII-XVIII (early XIX maybe?)centuries.
