Would you be willing to download final fantasy xiv benchmark and post your score:

    FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone

Most people don't like the game I think. I do. I briefly had an ASUS G74Sx-1ATY with 8GB RAM, an Nvidia GTX 560M with 2GB video ram and a 1600x900 screen. And am hoping to get a different more capable laptop. It's score with the latest non-beta driver was 3662, which according to:

    FINAL FANTASY XIV Official Benchmark

Means that the game can be run with default settings. Which is about what I found. At max settings it took about an hour for me to logout. I ended up using 1280x720, I think, with 2xAA and everything else default.

I would love to know, based on actual benchmark score or real experience with the game, what is required to play at higher settings, if possible with a laptop.

Will benchmark with the specs listed in my signature.

    Edit:

According to the benchmark i got 3351 points in the 1920x1080 preset.
Il run the 1280x720 preset next.

Edit 2: Scored 5386 points on 1280x720 preset.
Both runs was on AMD Catalyst 12.1 Preview.

If you have the money to burn then a laptop can go pretty fast.

If you add in tweaking ability then it can go really damn fast.

    Yep!

I don't have the money to afford a top of the line 6990 GPU laptop, but I have pretty extensive tweaking ability from a lot of time invested reading guides and testing things out. Enough to push the 9800m Gts to play games like Skyrim and Batman Arkham Asylum maxed out. I'm happy to have learned these things, as I'm sure they will serve me in the future.

Btw I just ran that benchmark on 720p and got 2700, very smooth and very nice graphics/visuals.

So, eh... wanna run the benchmark? I gather that FFXIV has rather extreme requirements for even what it considers mediocre performance.

scored 3567 with a single 5870 oc to 850/1200 on 720. Don't feel like flashing to see what the stock run is like. I wonder what I would get if the benchmark supported crossfire.

It does if you google it you just need to download a different DLL file which allows it to run in windowed mode and it turns crossfire on.
