I have to take a moment to recognize Runic Games for developing and supporting Torchlight.

I got the game when it was $10 and thought it was one of the best game deals of the year, since then it has been on sale for as low as $5.00!

This Diablo like game just oozes great design from start to end with great graphics, a really scalable engine (from a netbook mode to full support for my 5760x1200 eyefinity setup)

But what really calls out for the pat on the back is the support behind the game, any bug or problem in the game I have seen them immediately acknowledge on there forums and quickly release a fix.

And now today my jaw dropped when I see they released TorchEd the tool the actual game developers used to create the game.

They basically just gave us the game for free at $5.00, are giving us grade A support, and now they gave us the tools to expand the game to unimaginable levels by giving us most of the SDK to make our own content.

You have to check out TorchEd and how easy it is to use and how smart it was designed. Brigns back memory's for me when I used to design Warcraft 3 maps.

They released a 3 part video tutorial for us to view:
    http://forums.runicgames.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=6347

Take a look at just the first video to see how the TorchEd program works:

I really wish we could see more developers like this.

You know I never played any diablo game, but hearing many great things about this game and the price was what let me play it. I just booting it up today after buying it a few days ago and I am hook. This game is really fun now it made me wish I played diablo back in the days when all my friends were playing it. I know they are making an mmo from this game, but if they had co-op this would be even more awesome!

I will try the kit after I finish the game.

I didnt like diablo too much, this game I like more its a bit more casual.

Im afraid if I mess with the editor I will get hooked and never sleep again, I get really absorbed into stuff like that. I cant just toy with it, I end up having to master it. I spent a lot of time making starcraft, warcraft, and jedi knight maps in the past and I had a lot more time on my hands then as a kid than I do now as a parent w/ full time job.

Great post vicious and i absolutely agree with you on every point. I swear if this world didnt revolve around money they would have just given us the game and said "Enjoy! If you have any problems just ask!".

EDIT: I had + rep here, but apparently you were the last person i repped so i need to give someone else some ^_^

Bioware is another developer that listens to their fans. Torchlight is an excellent game.

I bought it, and then I gifted every one of my friends copies for Christmas. Great game, great concept, great execution, great support. Looks like they took the Valve + Blizzard philosophy of: Constant support and updating = Win.
