Hey guys, up to this point Ive only heard of how great Assassin's creed looks and but never got up to gave it a try given how much hardware requirements people rumored to claim.

My friend came over yesterday bringing his copy of the game and we installed it on my computer, after a few tweaks and some testing, Ive changed my mind complete and am ecstatic @ how well this games running.

    Heres my rig:

    xps1530

    t7500 2.2ghz dual core
    8600m gt ddr3 overclocked 665/865
    3gb ram
    7200rpm 200gb HDD
    *Nvidia forceware174.74
*No Forced controls from Nvidia control panel
*Reduced services and background application system tweaks
using zalman NC 1000 laptop cooler.

The specific settings I was using were as follows:

    Resolution: 1280x800
    DX9
    Level of Detail: 4/4
    World Detail: 4/4
    Shadows: 3/3
    Crowd Quality: 3/3
    Post Effects: On
    V-sync :eek:ff
    Multisampling(antialiasing): 1/3

basically I was able to running the game with 30+ fps @ all times. This screen shot is taken from a high point where it is most graphically taxing and im getting 30 fps. Mind the fraps take off at least 2 fps.

I cant believe that I was able to get this much mileage out of the 8600m gt ddr3. This card can overclock like a beast and will definately recommend getting the game or purchasing a laptop that have this card.

Wow... You can push the 8600GT a lot further than the HD 2600, I can only put it to around 614/730.

dude using a cooler is a must for overclocking. B4 the cooler i had to reduce my cpu speeds to 1.6ghz before i can up the gpu clock speeds to what im getting today.

now assassin's creed is running @ 76 C max using this cooler, and im pretty **** happy.

I believe it, I got decent FPS on my old desktop with an OC'd Athlon X2 and a 7600GT stock. I did have 4 gigs of RAM though. I believe I played at 1024x768 w/ mostly maxed settings, I can't remember now, but it played pretty decent.

I think the req's stated for Assassin's Creed, mostly the super-CPU and 3-4 gigs of RAM were for the heavily-populated cities, but for the most part they were waaaay overblown. The game runs pretty well even on mid-level computers.

The game runs awesome on my 8800mGTS now with a T9300 and 3 gigs of RAM :D, but yeah, it runs pretty well on lower setups as long as you have a good amount of RAM and CPU power.

Edit: I bet the 256mb of GDDR3 on your video card is much more helpful than some others that have the 512mb GDDR2...

I've read that Assassins Creed was one of the few games to run better on DX10 mode.
    Anyways, good job. :)

??? not that I know of.

DX10.1 before it was removed was a big boost for the ATI cards, but there is a conspiracy behind it because its a "Nvidia" game and they took it out.

Akuma: actually i read that review too. I thought it was true until i actually tested it out. And on my set up at least, dx10 ran 5 fps slower at least. I think if you have a higher end system dx10 will run better. But for your average gamer, that'll be out of range.

citizen86: yeh, the 8600m gt ddr2 version performs way worse. And the funny thing was b4 deciding on getting this laptop, i was speculating on a hp9500 dvt with a 512mb 8600m gs. whew thank god right? I dont think i'll be able to play on medium with that card.

660hpv12: settings on 3/4 still looks pretty amazing. and i bet if you OC your hd 3650 you'll play with max settings easy.

what are you having difficulties with? I mean everything is outlined in the guide. Just get rivatuner, slowly up the clock speeds from stock, and test afterwards.

Not with assassin's creed, but with other games they run slower than 174.74. The main reason why im using 174.74 is that it doesnt run as hot as 177 versions. 74C max temps is pretty **** good.

yeh my idle temps use to be pretty high also, until i got a laptop cooler, temps dropped 10+C which allowed me to overclock higher than normal =D.

You need to switch around driver versions until you find one that'll let you OC, I had that problem b4, 174.74 is what solved it for me.
