Guild Wars runs at good FPS (10 - 24) but for some reason the loading time on my computer is horribly slow. So Ive been wondering, Is it because the insufficient amount of RAM I have? I know Guild Wars Requires 1gb+ and I only have 512mb, So would that be the problem for its Slow Map Loads? Ive heard people say that Guild Wars runs Great on their x200m but I'm not sure whats the problem with mine.

If you have less ram, you have to access the hard drive more often. Also, depending on the speed of your harddrive, that may account for slow loading times. The X200 has little to do with loading times. (It would only affect them because it steals some of your ram)

Guild Wars isn't a terribly demanding game, but I'm surprised you're running Vista on 512MB, which is really bare minimum for that OS.

I think if you upgrade to at least 1GB of RAM, you'll see a real improvement not just in Guild Wars, but in the whole system's performance.

Or you could install Windows XP for playing games until you upgrade your RAM, runs way smoother since it uses less system resources.

Uh windows xp would cost me an extra 100$, which I could just use to buy a stick of 1gb of RAM. So I dont know if they give windows xp for free in Dominica where your from, but I dont have that money to spend on a new OS.

I think you are mistaken, because I have a 2.4ghz desktop, 1gb ram and I'm blazing. Maybe its because you had vista. But glad you fixed it.

when playing a game or somthing the ram is very important to store all the texture data and things, less ram means that it has to read off the hdd instead of the ram and it causes "stutering" often mistaken for bad fps.

when your loading a game tho, like a map is loading for bf2142 its 90% cpu power and hdd thats responcible for that. ram has almost nothing to do with the actual loading speed.

Now if your talking about one of those streaming games like Oblivion that are constantly loading in the background before you enter a new zone, ram is very important again so it can load the entire new area into the ram before you enter the new zone and be seamless rather than have to pause and wait for it to load.
