    Hello....

I was wondering if anyone could point me in a good direction....

I'm a teacher and I'm interested in purchasing a set of inexpensive Lap Tops for my Class depending on the price between 5 and 10 to use for running Second Life so that I can teach through it.

Does anyone have a recommendation of what may work well to run this preferably in the $200 - $400 range.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

You're going to want to find something with decent GPU power, although it doesn't require much. Do NOT get anything with an Atom CPU, its performance is far from sufficient.

I'll scour for a few options.

Laptops with AMD C-50/60 or E-350/450 may be decent options.

edit: Here's the Acer Aspire One with AMD C-60 with integrated GPU:

    Best Buy $300: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Acer+-+...lack/3584613.p?skuId=3584613&id=1218416482562

    Staples $300: http://www.staples.com/Acer-Aspire-AO722-0825-116-Laptop/product_425960

Search for Eee 1215b, they have ones with C-50 or C-60 like the Acer's above, but they also have options with E-350 or E-450 which are faster CPU and GPU, but probably push you over your $400 limit unless you can find one with an excellent deal.

Pretty much the same, no frills laptop that should be able to manage second life just fine, but as maleaco states, buy one, test it and buy more if it works for you.

Yes, something with AMD fusion would probably be perfect for this. You should be abble to get a netbook with the C-50 or C-60 somewhere in the $200-$300 range, I'd think.

Previously you could get E-350s for $300...

Hard to find now. I got an Eee 1215b for $279 with E-350. But now they're all minimum $400 if you can find them.

The HD 3000 will be much more powerful than the 6310 in the E-350. So I'd go with a Sandy Bridge Intel even the i3 will be sufficient. If you can find a laptop with an AMD A6 or A8 CPU that would have a better GPU than the HD 3000.
